Looking at upgrading the
suspension on our 2005 4.2 DX Wagon that has constantly been loaded to Gvm since new (we travel & work full time)
Currently have standard front coils & OME 982 coils (30mm lift) in rear that gives a level vehicle (because of the constant load) although with a ARB Bar & Warn 9.5 XP both ends are probably slightly lower than standard ride height
Options are OME 50mm lift 120 kg constant load coils in front & OME 50mm lift 250 kg constant load coils in rear with Nitrochargers that should give a 50mm increase in ride height from where it is now or Kings 75mm lift coils front & rear that with the weight carried should give 50mm over standard with Koni 82 shocks front & rear
Prices are much the same for both kits
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated
Regards Don

G'day Don,
I load my GU's up to GVM constantly as
well and my first GU had Dobinson coils (50mm lift, +200KG load) and OME shocks. I was so impressed with this setup that lasted 300000km that I put the same setup on again, it now has become the wife's taxi and she thinks it is great even for round town. My second GU is standard and I have only done 10 or 15 thousand k's in it but the
suspension is just about to be replaced in it to guess what? yep dobinson coils and OME shocks. Add polyairs to this and you have the ultimate setup in my opinion.
I weighed my first GU with basically no work gear in it and 1/2
tank of fuel, it nudged the scales at 2960KG but then I add minimum 1/2 tonne to this whenever I head off for work so it would be running 3.5T any day of the week (some days closer to 4T). Even at this weight the
suspension never felt loose or wallowy and I do stick the right boot into her at times.
Cheers, Trevor.

No doubt there will be many different
views on this but I have used King springs and Koni RAID shocks. Very happy with the result.

Whilst I don't have a Patrol (not that I have anything against them ;-) ), I also use the King Springs and Koni Raids and find them excellent on the 105 series Tojo.
Can't go wrong with this setup, just ensure the workshop that fits them understands what you wish to do with the car and what loads you carry.
Cheers,
Mark
