pajero knock sensor

does the nm 3.5 have a knock sensor ? if so where abouts ? and can it be disabled? cheers

Yes it does, it's under the intake manifold.

Why would you want to disable it, it is a very simple but crucial sensor.

the reason being , i have dual fuel and also a unichip, now when on fuel it pings slightly which in turn retards ths timing . the ecu takes its time on resuming the original timing to original thus when i switch to gas the timing is still retarded. so if i disable it it can not retard the timing on fuel .

I think the Unichip tuner needs to retune it and take out a smidgeon of advance.

I do not know the Pajero injection, but I bet if you disable it, the injection will go into retarded limp home mode.

i was not going to disable it just relocate it so it does not pick up the pinging . the reason i do not take it back to the tuner is that i live 400 klm away from them , other wise i would

Hi. Pinking/Preignition/Detonation will all eventually destroy your engine. That's why the knock sensor is fitted.I would get the chip recalibrated no matter how far away they are.Bob
