Nothing wrong with the MTZ for road use either,Ive been on some pretty rocky tracks, uphill.downhill and not one chip etc etc...

This tyre has been given rave reviews and is not that noisy for general driving...

cheers

Just put the Baja Atz on earlier this week. Only been on the 5 km dirt road to town and back every day. Great around town. Went out on the highway once and noticed how noisy the BFG was. We have run BFG muddies for ever but the last set were our last. The chips in the tread are realy bad. Small cracks up the side walls they must have been the start of the Jap map. Our 4by acc supplier on the front door of our car also runs them on his shorty Nissan and loves them. when the new mags and Mickeys were being fitted a Nissan owner pointed to the car and said I want them. After looking at the poor old bush basher for so long looking so off road ish it was sitting there in the car park gleaming. Probably give a wash and post a new pic in our profile this week end.

I replaced my MTRs with the Baja ATZs 25000kms ago. Great wear and on road manners and they've not let me down anywhere off road yet. Haven't encountered any mud so can't comment on that aspect of the tyre, not a problem for me as I haven't encountered nay mud in the past three years.

I have the ATZ on my 100 series and went up to 285's. Excellent tyre on basically all surfaces. I have taken them down the canning where they worked great in the sand. In fact we were running at 16 psi for 4 weeks and yes, I did get a couple of small sidewall stakes, but that was pretty well expected where we went.

They handle terrific on the blacktop and also work well on dirt. Only had a short stint on slippery clay, but certainly no issue there either.

I would recommend them no prob's.

Cheers
Gerry

My brother had the 4Rib ATZs fitted to his LC76 when new. He is very unimpressed with them as they collect stones in the sipes like there is no tomorrow. The stones then do not come out and make a hell of a racket. He is also concerned that as the stones do not come out they will gradually be pushed deeper into the tread till they do damage to the belts or cause puncturing.

It would appear that this occurs as the sipes are in the middle of the lugs and do not run from either edge or edge-to-edge. So I am guessing that the lugs dont squirm around as much and lessen the grip on the stones and allow them to be thrown out.

Initially they looked like a great tyre and I was considering them as a possible replacement to my BFG A/Ts but not after seeing this.

He removed 70 rocks/stones from one tyre after a run over the Barrington Tops to see the snow earlier this year. The tyres are less than 6 months old with 0nly 6000 km on them.

I was only thinking today there is a lot of small stones to be picked out. We do here a lot of stones throwen up under the steel side steps.

I replaced my cracked, split and chipped Coopers with M/T ATZs on my 80 series and have clocked up about 30,000kms on them so far. I live on a 130 acre farm with gravel drive so they see mud, very slippery clay, gravel and plenty of hwy use.
So far am really pleased with how they perform in all situations. They are slightly noisier than previous 265 coopers at 110km/h on the fwy but they are 285s and more aggressive tread.

I do pick up a few stones in the "sipes" but they are really tiny little things to get in there in the first place and i'm pretty sure the sipes arent as deep as the actual tread depth let alone the plies.
I would definitely recommend the ATZs based on how mine are going so far.

Oh and i pulled a bogged 19 foot flatbed truck and dog (with brakes locked due no air pressure) out of a paddock the other week and the truckie couldnt believe how the ATZs could bite in and find enough grip to do it... and i had a smile from ear to ear ha ha.

Had a good look and prod at the ATZs and the sipes do go as deep as the tread, and most of my sipes do have tiny stones stuck in them. Not sure if its a real problem, but it would be better if they werent there i guess.
Still, i'm wrapped with the tyres performance so far and will see how they go further down the track.

I've done about 10,000kms now on my 4 rib MT ATZ's 305x70x16 on my LC100 and love em so far. I find them quieter than the cooper ST 285's I had on previously and so far they have performed really well. They pulled me up very promptly in an emergency braking situation on wet bitumen recently and surprised the crap out of me. They are great on the beach and on gravel roads. I haven't had a chance to try em in any real mud yet. They do collect small rocks in the sipes as pointed out here but it hasn't bothered me and doesn't seem to cause any damage either. I have a mate who has the MTZ's and they seem like a great tyre too and not as noisy as I thought they'd be.
