Just had an email from my brother. He is on the gold coast caravaning as he is booked in to Boroma Caravans to have some modifications done to his van on 28/11. The management called him yesterday and said as of 8.00am 14/11 they had closed the business. Anyone heard why at all. Bob.

toyocrusa,

By looking at the website link as posted in the first reply, it would appear that as Boroma are ready to move into their new premises soon, that the closure is temprorary so they can move from one factory to another.

The long awaited Boroma factory upgrade and relocation has been accomplished. In late September 2008, management and staff all pulled together and moved from 17 Quarry Road to the new factory and office complex, situated at 75 Christensen Road, Stapylton. This new facility will provide Boroma with much needed space and equipment for expansion of their product range, and an increase in the number of luxury caravans produced each year.

Watch this space for photos of the new premises.

Possibly. But they cancelled his work to the van and didn't re book it.

Surely they said more than "Rack off"

And he said more than "Ok"

Geoff
Must be raining in Town or you would be painting the house.
This is the economic time when funny things can happen although not funny to the people with the products .
I hope its only a temporary hickup.

Unfortunately it won't be the last either :-(

As people have less to spend then leisure and travel will cope the first and probably the biggest hit.

It is my understanding that they were in trouble long before this latest economic crisis.

Still can't understand why they moved into the new premises when they were already in trouble.

It has been reported on another forum that Boroma have gone into the hands of a liquidator

And probably come back in 3 months under another name.

Reports i have read say a Receiver not a Liquidator. Doesn't a Receiver see if the company is viable and try and trade out of trouble? Then if it folds a Liquidator comes in and sells off all the assets? I am no expert here. It does appears from these reports that doors are shut - but maybe they will open again run by the Receiver and there may be scope for toyocrusa's brother to get the work done?

Hi Dunco

It just may help toyocrusa's bro if Receiver does get the shop open again, as well as others with orders or work pending.

It is the liquidator and the gates are closed with a security guard in place.

Hi toyocrusa
We were one of the unfortunate 30 people that were ripped off by Nahi Gaxel from Viscount that went into recievership 3 times in about 3 years.
We lost a caravan worth $38,000 and other people the same as well as him ripping off his suppliers believed to be by about $3m plus.
So be wary when a caravan manufacturer goes into "liquidation" as they may restart up again only to do the same again.
The names used by Viscount included Viscount Manufacturing, Rv Manufacturing Gazel caravans.
There was a well known Qld caravan manufactruer/ retailer that was supposed to be in with Gazel rebirthing the caravans. and then selling them off.
So far no proof but be wary.
Regards
Ted G
