I have recently moved to Perth and would like to now of some good places where I can go camping within about a 4 - 5 hours drive of Perth. The girlfriend would like a place with toilets, and a place to wash, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Dwellingup is good, just not on a long weekend or in school holidays. Collie is not to bad. Get out there and have a look around

You could also try Kokerbin Rock, Pertrudor Rock, Boyagin Rock, all within a couple of hours of Perth.

The goldfields are great also if you have a few days to go out and explore the abandoned towns around there.

Cheers

If you buy the Day Trips and also the Weekend Trips out of Perth that will give you a pretty good idea of what is available also there are a few books about that show free camping in WA. Saw a new book (well to me anyway), about free camping in WA. Not a Hema, or Boiling Billy or one of Jan Hollands, Priceless campsites. Looked ok wished I'd bought it now.

Good thing about those publications is that they tell you what facilities are available.

The roads and tracks WA map book also has a break down of what is available at different campsites around. In my opinion the bible to own for anyone who travels/4wd/camps in WA, and at only the $30 mark (has been a while since I brought mine) is a cheap investment.

place to wash is a bit harder and many of the dunnies can be so bad youd rather use the bush.
i usually dont frequent campgrounds but spots in the Sw would be most likely to pass muster.
if your introducing your missus to camping maybe head to pemberton via Nannup which has got places like the jam factory which keeps the fairer ones interested befor the tent goes up.
campgrounds near yeagerup lake have proper dunnies and running water (cant remember about the showers) heaps of big trees to see around the place and a rough sandy track over a few dunes to the beach for a spot of fishing.
Go to your newsagent and ask about the 4wd days and weekends out of perth book and while your there grab the pilbarra, goldfields and south coast book too!yeagerup
