Was talking to one of the CT hire companies yesterday at the 4WD show and he said that they are selling 1 yr old Pioneer CT's for around the $18,000 mark. He also said that a number of people have bought them done their big trip and then sold them again for the price they bought them for. Hence the CT cost them nothing.

Worth a look if you're in the market. BTW they also sell 2nd hand Engel's, Gen sets, and Sat Phones.

As far as I know they only deal with the very basic Prospector model which does not have the independent suspension or gull wing boxes, but if that is all you are after it may be o.k. but that price seems a bit high to me.

I looked at them recently for a BIL, typically they were 12 months old but had seen 12 months of use. A private trailer 3 years old is lucky to see 12 weeks of use. He ended up going the 3 year old way (had been used for 2 trips in 3 years!!!)

They are asking for a private sale price for a commercially used item. Cannot fault them for wanting to maximise their return, but they buy at trade rates, sell at private sale rates and then the trailer has cost them next to nothing for 12 months of hire (what business is all about!!!).

If the model run hasn't changed over many years then arguably better to buy an older model privately used one, but if there are changes to the model then its harder to find a pivate 12 month old one and simply be aware of the amount of use and any wear and tear IMHO.

Cheers

I have just been having a look at how the 'Financial crisis' might affect the caravan, RV industry.

They have begun laying off workers at caravan factories in England and a down turn is already happening in the USA.

I would not be surprised if dealerships and private people in Australia soon begin to drop prices the same as car dealers.

I have also been looking on ebay and have notice a lot of vans and motor homes are not attracting an bid.

The days of getting your money back when you sell an RV may soon be numbered. For a while at least.
