Hi All..
So I have some links for photos from yesterday. (and I have just discovered that your 'web browser'(the small search bar at the top of your screen) is different to your search engine, ie google).
So I will put the links on here but if it doesn't work you might have to do the copy and paste thing.
Anyway Yesterday was really cool!!
We got there an hour early which gave me plenty of time to walk around and get photos before everyone turned up. Ian Doyle who was 'Master of Ceremony' and Executive Producer of 'The Back of Beyond', mentioned Kristen Weidenbach and asked her to stick her hand up. Turned out she was standing right next to me! (Kristen wrote the book Mailman of the
Birdsville Track), so we had a bit of a chat, that was nice to tell her how much I appreciated her writing and efforts into putting the book together. She has a new book out that I bought at the airport named 'Rock Star, the story of Reg Sprigg, Outback Legend', I told her I hadn't read it yet but am looking forward to it, she says, 'yeh it's good, but once you've written about Tom it is hard to match up to that again'.
It was the biggest pleasure to be able to sit with Tom, I only sat for a minute to speak with Tom and got some photos, he must find it hard when everyone wants a piece of him. I didn't want to impose or anything. (and Brad and Dave were chuffed to because they got a handshake and got to have a few words with Tom also.)
It really was an awesome day, quite emotional, a day I will never forget.

Jo,
Terrific photos.
The book on Reg Sprigg should be interesting. He did some amazing travels through the
Simpson Desert and set up
Arkaroola Sanctuary with his wife Griselda. If you can get hold of her book "Dune is a Four Letter Word"..I think that's its title.
It makes you think about the interesting adventures in life some people have had! It also makes you want to get out there and experience it all yourself.
All the best and glad the week end was such a success for you.

Jo
If you'd like info on the recovery of the Badger- Dave at
Copley Camping Park is a wealth of details, and has some very good historical photos.

Thanks Signman, I'll google him for contact details. Of course the book tells the story of the recovery, but I have found it hard to find some good photos on google of the recovery itself and some photos of the trucks state before restoration.

For anyone who looks at the photos, if you are wondering why there is a few extras of some of the same it is because I still sometimes wonder about the flash/no flash. I can take some photos with the flash on and they turn out quite dark, so I took extra's of some photos to make sure I would get the shot.
Thanks Viv, it was definately worth coming all this way for!
Laura I fly home tomorrow morning.

Great job Jo....looking at the crank handle on the Badger reminds me of the Fergy tractor I used to have to start....it too had a crank handle and when it would backfire on start, it would drive your arm back up into your shoulder....ouch....used to make my eye's
water....even now just thinking about it.....hated the thing.
Great job...great photo's...thankyou.
