The taste of water , specificly the taste / smell of the water at Boulia , is it bore water ? , is it high on the nose like the water at Winton ?or sweet like at Birdsville ? Where does the township source its water from ??

Water is reticulated to all premises in town from four bores. The bores, which are sub-artesian, are each of a depth of about 250 feet. Water is pumped to a reservoir at ground level with a capacity of 1,150,000 litres. The water is then pumped to a 120,000 litre elevation tank. The water is quite palatable.

Axel, W.C.Fields was once asked if he wanted water with his whiskey to which he replied;

"Water, never touch the stuff, fish fornicate in it don't you know".

when we were out that way 2 yrs past,nrth of Boulia the was an old Cobb& Co stop off it has some old bits n peices & a water tank & a windmill which was still rotating at that time,we tasted the water from the tank & it tasted as good as our Brisbane water so we helped ourselves to fill up our motor home tank,around 80ltrs & said thank you as we left.
Cheers Bob.

Pumping of the clean water from Lytton is expected to start next February.

Can't see what the problem is with cleaned water from the sewage plant. Are you the same people that like 'fresh' stream water when you are camping?

If you are drinking Brisbane water now, you are drinking water from Wivenhoe dam, which has plenty of animal manure in it from the Brisbane Valley farms, and the output from Esk and Kilcoy sewage pants, to name a few. There might be at least 5 sewage plants upstream. Those sewage plants have a lower level of treatment than the clean water from the Lytton treatment plant. If 10% of future water supply going into Wivenhoe is coming from Lytton, the Wivenhoe dam will be 10% cleaner than it is now. :o)

Then it has to flow down the river to Mt Crosby where it is treated again before being pumped to Brisbane.

So what is all the fuss about?

Hey John, doesn't bother me at all.. Mark can't drink the tap water anyway. There is one particular brand of water that seems to be the best for him in regards to (taste yes) but what additives it doesn't have in (phosphorus, potassium etc) so I have to buy that. It isn't cheap with the amount of water that he drinks! (fluid intake not restricted yet). And I gotta admit, have never much liked the chlorine taste out of the tap water myself so I also drink and cook with the water I buy for him.

Hi Axel
Buy a Betta water filter available from the Gold Coast or a caravan spares places cost about $100 fit it to a small length of hose and you will have tasteless water where ever you are.
We have used them all over Oz including Canberra where if it works there it will work in the worst water any where.
Regards
Ted

Ted , got filter on ct already ,does the job , but was actualy after the answer as per 1st reply ,, wont just be passing thru , more of a long term proposition so water taste and quality does come into play more so than just a top up of a caravan or c/t water tank.
