I have just discovered a great rail freight service for 4*4 vehicles across the Nullabour. Linfox will transport your vehicle fully loaded in either direction in a fully covered container, but I have been told that NSW to
Perth could cost maybe $3000 but in the opposite direction about $800. It seems they run up to 5 trains a week fully loaded with freight to
Perth but the same trains return to
Parkes empty!! The trip takes 5 days. It is a freight service only so no people. I'm not sure about dropping off half way say in
Adelaide or
Melbourne.

$800 is good for west to east but you can drive a diesel back to
Parkes for $800 in fuel in five days.. I cant really see the point.. Michael
