Hi,
I want to buy a camp shower, with a pump powered by 12V.
I don't need heating.

Is it a good product? what can you say about it? (link to a good review will be appreciated as well)

Any other similar products I should consider? (it should be in the same price range more or less)

Thanks.

Yevi!! If its the $25 unit you are talking about, they are ok, it can last two uses or 50 depending on your luck.. I have had 2 in about 3 years, finally water gets into the submersible motor or the inpeller falls off.., I have had both type of failures. Buy two in case the first lets you down.. You can also buy the same unit powered by batteries, about $40.. Primus is blue but the same unit is normally Yellow and is available from Jaycar for $20 Hope this helps , Michael

Hi i bought one at Big W a few back and have found it to be very good.
There dose appear to be few others around they all look the same but different colour, boating shops sell them as well.
I just heat up a billy full of water and add it to a bucket of cold and can get at least two good hot showers out of one 9L bucket.
The shower head has an on /off valve helps save water, wet your self down lather up and rinse.uses a lot less than just tipping a bucket over your self. As for how long it will last?cheap as just get another.

Rob.

you can get em at K-mart, big W etc. We've probably had at least 40 showers out of ours - didn't know it was about to pack in though. For what they cost, it might be a decent idea to get a spare.

The black solar showers/bladders are good too. They have their limitations, especially in the cooler weather when you have to have a shower in the middle of the day because it's too cold otherwise.

What i was thinking of doing was just buying a Hella marine or Rule bilge pump and some tubing and wiring up my own. Has anyone tried this? Will the bilge be able to pump sufficiently to have a shower or will it pump too quick? This way at least i know that the pump will last for years.

I've thought of that too but i suspect that the bilge pump might not like the restriction of a shower head.
They are meant to shift volume not pressure.
I've got one in the pit in the garage and it will pump 500mm depth of water out of the pit very quickly but doesn't like it if the hose gets kinked. It is using 19mm ID hose, bit big for a shower ;-))
They are not very dear to try out though, can handle grit, oil and water and if you get one with an inbuilt float switch you just lift it out of the water to stop it.
I use the Jaycar $20 one when we need it.l

I have been using a bilge pump system (homemade) for about 8 years & haven't had any problems with pump.

I have an in line switch so it can be switched on/off from inside the shower. I switch on wet myself all over. switch off, soap up, rinse off, switch off, wash hair etc switching on and off.

Mrs and I can shower in 10 litres of water using this system, very important when you're out in the deserts and can't carry heaps of water.
cheers

Phil

We considered the retail shower options, but decided against it for various reasons. Our setup is simple and there is nothing to break.
cheers
