HI Forumites,
This has probably been covered, and will probably get told to use the search function, but here it goes!
I am about to change the Brake Pads on the 4 Corners of the 'Trol (2003 GU3, 3.0 tdi).
I am after some opinions on what are good brake pads / bad brake pads that people have used / experienced.
I am leaning toward Bendix or Ferodo 4wd pads, but open to the
forum thoughts?
Thanks,
Arran

I'll second that 60,000k on the front of a crooza with only about 30-40% worn and they stop
well enough to.
cheers Pat

I would also recommend Bendix I use them myself and in clients cars ,they may be a bit dearer but are more cost effective in the long run

Have been retired from the brake game for ten years, or so but always found Bendix to be very good pads, Ferodo are good but tended to be a bit noisy.
Hope that helps.

G'day Arran
As a recently retired mechanic ,I suggest the ones I use in our own vechiles and thats a not so
well known brand
called QFM ( Queensland Friction Materials )
A good product and
well priced
I know of several cases where the big brands were not satisfactory and changing to these gave excellent results
Do a google search for " QFM brake pads " Australia only
and read some more opinions if you wish
I have no connection with them apart from using them for years

I'll recommend OEM Nissan pads again.. I did and couldnt be happier.
Have tried Bendix or Ferodo, I was far from impressed, that was on GQ and GU.
The EBC were good after 20 mins, cause they need heaps of temp in them to work
well but useless in a daily driver where brakes arent used all day every day.
Go with the Nissan pads.
YMMV.

Do you want to stop in the shortest distance or do you want long life pads ? The quicker the stop the more wear on the pads and the discs. I would go with original maufacturers equipment which should be best of both worlds.

I agree with Truckster and Kiwi. What is wrong with the genuine item? They have been designed for your particular car and nothing else.
I have worked for a Holden, Ford and three Toyota dealers as
well as a few other workshops. The workshops rarely used genuine. Non genuine were usually cheaper and they either made more money on them or were trying to save their customers a few dollars. The dealers always used genuine.
I have seen plenty of non genuine come back with complaints about squealing, shuddering, rapid wear etc.etc. I can't remember ever hearing a complaint about genuine.

Go the genuine. They are exy but I still have the original pads at 385K's and they are still about 30%.
