Hi, just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a
camping spot for a big loud group. Obviously we don't want to annoy anyone, so that's the main priority.
We have about 30 people and will be taking a generator and big sound system for an all-night party.
Any thoughts appreciated!
Leo

Leo,
Given that your main priority is not to annoy anyone, private land is probably your only option.
Unless of course your planned date is New Year's Eve. Other than that people expect to be able to get a reasonable night's sleep in the bush and I can't think of anywhere that you could be far enough away from other campers so as not to annoy them. Loud music travels a long way in the bush.
Sorry I can't be much more help.
Jim.

Hi Leo
I think the place you need is about 6km SW of Glenburn at 55H 0366501E 5854475N
Its off marginal road and marked with tent symbol on the rooftop toolangi map available at glenburn
united service station.
This area has been used for same before and is suitable - there are other camps areas 2-300m nearby but they are always only used in conjunction with trail bikes and noise is not a problem.
Just get everyone to take all rubbish home as its a great spot , I find that it helps to hand out rubbish bags.
No facilities , forrested with room for 25 cars and lovely
creek nearby, and couple of serious tracks as
well.
I'd get there early.

Thanks for the responses. I'll take a look at that Robin.
My only other thought was to book out the
Cook's Mill
campsite at Cathedral Ranges which I estimate would cost $250 to book every site. This might be the way to go, that way it is reserved for us.

That could work also Leo, but if happy to go down that line it might cost less in the Murrindindi scenic reserve
as there are 8 or 9 seperate areas there along the river front.
What we have found to work is if its say saturday night, send someone up friday night to
camp and put up a couple of signs like "Fred's 21st saturday" this gives everyone fair warning and
allows them to set up elsewhere.

G'day Leo.
Murrindindi Scenic Reserve would not be any good if you do not want to disturb other campers and if you have 30 tents or camper trailers it wouldn't be suitable. Too many people get up there and the
ranger takes exception to loud noise all night.
Upper Yarra Reserve might be large enough for you to take the group down onto the oval area far enough away from other campers and it has all facilities. Its at the bottom of the Thompson Dam. Might be worth investigating.
There are also a number of
camping areas along the 90 mile beach which are isolated between Seaspray and Golden Beach where you wouldn't disturb anyone else.
Camping areas 7 through to 18 would be suitable for what you suggest. Within about 2 hours from
Melbourne.
Good luck with your search for a suitable site.
