Air Bag Suspention

I have air bag suspension on the rear of my 80ser L/cruiser. Silly me I have lost the instructions. Does anybody know what is the minimum air pressure that I can run these air bags at? They are Firestone coil spring inserts.

Than you

Try the Truckspring site in the US or Firestone - or Poly Air - they all have comprehensive info available for download - PolyAir say 5 psi minimum at all times..... as I recall, 35psi max.

The blue Firestones run a bit different pressure to the polyairs ,, 10psi min and 60psi max unless you want to hear the "bang ".

Paul , different pressures for different vehiclesperhaps ? Firestone instructions for mine on the 80 series was 10psi to 60 psi.
Had Polyairs on a previous vehicle and they were 5psi to 30 psi .

I had Firestone's on my last vehicle (Hilux). From memory it was 10 PSI recommended min and 100 PSI max.

In practice, I think you can go lower than 10 PSI, providing you are not going off road. The risk is that with very low pressure, you might pinch the bags, but a fair bit of wheel articulation would be required t do that.

I have Boss airbags on my current vehicle. They don't seem to specify a minimum. Just a max of 100 PSI. I run them at 60 PSI under full load, and so far have let them down as low as 5PSI when not loaded.

Gee I think 60 to 100psi is getting way to high, Big bang comes to mind.

I've got Firestone Coilrites (blue) and the pressures read 8psi min 35psi max

I have boss air bag and pump system on my cruiser ute. The system came with a 140psi max switch even though the pump is rated to 200psi. In the advertising for the air bags they state they had tested them to 700psi without failure and stopped there. With no load I leave them with a minimum air in them to stop any possible pinching and to keep the seals tight. Fully loaded with my tray camper I will put 80 to 100 in them and then go off road - had no problems yet.

Just a correction - the advertising said they inflated them to 500psi without failure and then deemed it unsafe to go higher. - How my memory fades so easily. I purchased the whole system from eBay - delivered from Queensland.
