Whet down to the Perth 4WD and Camping show last weekend and picked up some extras for the RV3 Oztent.
Deluxe front and side panel's
and fly saving a hole $26.00 Australian Dollars.. LOL

Set them up today in the back yard to check them out (not a good idea to fined out there wrong in the middle of the desert.)

We have had the tent for around 5 years now, but only used it this year on the Anne Beadell and Trans-line crossing of OZ. We have always taken it but sleeped in the back of the Troopy, we fell in love with it after the first night we used it (hot and mozzies).

We now plan to use it all the time seeing how we now travel less km's per day and stop earlier each day, and still have the Troopy back as backup. so to speak.

The hardest thing about using it is loading it up on the roof rack, but I have some plans....

anyway here's some pics. I hope

I fit mine between the basket and the left hand side of the rhino bars . I also use cgear flooring so sand and dirt fall thru and it doesnt kill grass .

We have a Cgear mat as well, and have used it twice now on the GB, CS, and AB trips, they work unbelievably well.

The problem with the rack is that I have to lift it over the rear bar them Robyn (about a foot shorter than me @ 5'6" LOL) has to try and get it to side over the cross bars on an ARB rack.

I will get some nylon and zip clip it too the rails so it will slide over then easer, I hope and also looking into a ladder to make it easyer to get up onto the rack. (have lost the right hip and have to wait for a replacement).

I made spikes to hold my Maxtrax on top of the rack.

Get one of these and fit it on the rear wheel when you need it.

I have the RV4, and bought an Ozpod, as I have a back that often decides to "go out" when I am on a trip.

The Ozpod has a roller that makes loading it easier. They are not cheap, but after having spent 6 days in Karratha where the chiro worked feverishly to get me "back on the road" I can assure you they work.

I have a tradesman's roofrack, so it works fine on that.

Take two (darn server to busy)

Hi Jack

We got the standard rack long before the Tent, I have looked at the pods and can make a mod to the rack.

I was also thinking about a roller like on a boat tralier to help load the tent on.

while looking at the rhino web site I found this, looks like I may have got the wrong Roof Rack, The Rhino looks like a total system not just a rack.

Yep, the roller will make it a lot easier for you.

I am a bit of a mechanical gelding, so I bought the pod, but if you have the skills, all you need is the roller. Good luck with it. We love our Oztent, and it is a pretty well travelled one.

Hi Richard
The Oztent is great - we dont use ours a lot now (prefer to take the Kimberley) but used it couple of years ago on the CSR - as you say the only problem is getting it onto the roof rack. We now take it as a backup for kids and grandkids to sleep in when we are away. Best little bit of stuff out of China for many years. Had a problem once with the main zipper - no problems with warranty - just told me to take it to a place in Midland and they fixed it

Trekkie

We have always taken just as back up e.g. get rained in have to set up a small town.. sort of thing. The China thing doesn't bother me my folk's and grand folks said the same thing about made in Japan. we now drive there cars.. LOL

one of the other things I like about them is how well it all folds back up and fits into the bags it comes with

ever tried getting a roll up table back into it's bag.. :-(

The greatest addition to an Oztent is an Ozpod.

You just roll up the tent and slide it in, no need to put it in the bag and it has an inbuilt roller to get it in and out easier.

Thanks ajd,

I will have a look into that, I was still thinking that you put it back onto the bag.

What do you do with the polls and peg bags?

I have a single ozpod which can fit my RV4 tent with 2 poles and ropes.

If you want to fit more in you might have to go for the medium size ozpod.

We mainly use our oztent for offroad touring without our camper so it is erected and packed away every day, so we don't take any of the extras like fly or front walls.

I know they are a bit dear but they are great when touring.
