Are these worth having or am I better off with the standard Rooftop maps?
As it is nearly Christmas and the kids need to buy me something useful (not more sox!), I though that this was a relatively cheap yet useful option.
Has anyone used them at all??
I was looking at Dargo Region, Mansfield-Licola and Marysville-Toolangi Region.

Thanks

While the rooftop map content is good the paper tears easily along the seams , so its a tricky one.

Prefer to use paper maps here , but it helps to use ozi-explorer and print maps out onto A3 colour paper.

Hiya Robin

I get all my rooftop maps put through the laminater @ $10 each. Then i can spill what i like on it and yeah no more tears...Have a 100mm pipe from plumbers one end with screw cap and one end fixed.

I like the idea on cd too..

Thanks, Robin.
There are the laminated maps of course but at $20 a pop they are about the same price as the CD with approx 5 maps on each of them.
They also claim the CD's are more up to date than the paper ones.
Even so my printer doesn't run to A3 size so it would be A4 and lots of sticky tape!!

I use both - the paper maps are great for trip planning and seeing where you are relative to where you want to be... and the CD's are great once loaded onto the PDA with OziCE running.

You could buy one and then do it all yourself - ie buy the CD's and print the maps - or - buy the maps and scan them for Ozi - the choice is yours.

Hi,

I use an iPaq running Ozi and use a mixture of Rooftop, CFA & Hema maps on it. I have the spatial vision stuff too but the files are too big for the PDA version of Ozi.

I find you still need to carry paper maps for broader awareness of where you are, while the screen image gives you your precise location.

We did Dargo to Moscow Villa last weekend (150mm of rain Sat night while we camped at Bentleys Plain) and I used Rooftop's map on the PDA and on paper for that.

Great maps. Where he says steep or steep and rocky he means it.

Can't wait for his little legal problem to get resolved next year to do the Bogong/Mt Beauty/Falls Creek map.

Get the 4 Rooftop disks for Christmas. Well worth it.
