Well was at harveyN the other day and they had a 1 only 900 at $399 .Couldn't resist.
Got it up and running on the home wireless network.
Yes Robin I have visited the forums you suggested but want to know a few more basic things-Like
How do I install ozi explorer-no cd in unit-Do I just download from the net or????Does it run on oziCE or not?on As i have my maps on SD from the old Ipaq can I just pop them in this unit?
It seems like a good thing for browsing very quick, better than my tosh laptop.
I also have a Holux GM_210 USB gps -will it work with this unit?

Not sure about setting up Ozi but the Holux will work Ok just run the installation disc that came with it.
Presumably it is running Windoze and not Linux

eePCs get are great. One popular modification people do is to add a touch screen to them making them even better when used in a car. You can get the touch screen kit for under $100 and its pretty easy to install.

You can find out more information about the mod at the following

Site Link

The screens are available on ebay
Ebay link

I have done a 7 inch for a friend and it worked great. The 7 and 9 inch use the same controllers and are a snap to set up in windows.

I also used the 7 inch eepc touch screen on my indash screen and it works very well with oziexplorer.

Opening the eepc does void warranty so thats up to you I guess, I usually wait a few months to make sure all is well before doing any mods to equipement I buy.

Cheers

Thanks for the Info.
I would like to add a 4/5" touch screen to handle reversing cam as well. There's not a lot of room in a defender .Have a rock solid mounting from the ash tray spot for old pda so that would handle touch screen and allow the eepc to be hidden away from prying eyes,ie I want one I can plug in .
Many thanks for the replies,
Cheers.

Assume you are running windows on your 900.
Download the Ozi pc version & install , maps on SD card will be fine.
Loving my 1000HD as car navigator using Garmin City navigator and Ozi with G.top g66 gps

Many thanks,Paul,
My 900 is running XP and seems to be very quick. If I download the pc version will the maps in ozf format for pda still work?
It just seems to be a beaut little bit of gear for travelling.
Also need to work out the best way of accessing the net on the road-use the mobile with data pack as modem or purchase one of the new USB pre paid thingo's from Telstra?
Just love the compact size and not have to worry about damaging an expensive laptop or having it swiped whilst travelling,
Thanks again,
Cheers,
Mary

Gidday Mary
The .ozf files will be fine.
Suggest looking at the forums at www.whirlpool.net.au for info on mobile net access.
Happy trails
