Garmin Colorado 300, Has anyone got one and what do you think of them. I am looking at getting one and I like that it supports Geocaching. Has any one use the Colorado for this purpose.
Thanks in advance.

Have had one for about 4 months and am happy with it. Use it mainly for geocaching (paperless). The only issue is the rate of battery use. I intend going to rechargeables shortly. For Oz the 300C is the one to go for as the more expensive versions just have US maps installed.

Thanks Scott,
I got one last Friday and have found it great for geocaching, have found about 15 since l got it plus 2 ftf. Just have to learn how to use all the bit and pieces that it has in it. It is a lot better than the old Magellan 315 that l had.
Thanks for your help,
David

You would be better off buying the Oregon 300. Nothing wrong with the Colorado 300 , and as firesafe said about battery life isn't really good .
I copy and paste the GPX file into the folder and everything is there
Also the Oregon is more waterproof

Yes, I had Colorado 300 then moved to Oregon 400c - the touch screen is unreal. As Skippy mentions Colorado is fine and does everthing you will want but if you can afford it get Oregon
Cheers

Can't comment on the Oregon but I've been using a Colorado for six months. Great bit of gear for caching.
Combined with Shonkymaps it's great.
I was using a Magellan Meridian Platinum but this is much better.
I no longer have to carry my PDA and a GPS for paperless caching.
It'd be nice if it averaged waypoints for placing caches like the Platinum did, but I take ten waypoints and average it myself. It's been fine so far.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the heads up on the 300. l got one late last week and already have found out it has a lot of options compared to the old Magellan 315 that l used to have. The wife and myself have already found about 15 caches since l got it last Friday and 2 ftf. It will take a bit to learn everything on it but l think we are willing to learn. We are only new to geocachng since August but have already have 83 finds. I have read a few of your items on this site as
well as the geocachng site. The Looney's of Cranbourne aka Ann and David
