Stockton Beach

Hi Team,
I may have the wrong end of the stick here but I'll ask it to be absolutely sure.

I got home from work this evening and flicked the local news onto the idiot box.

Just caught a piece about Port Stephens Council closing the northern access (Birrubi Point) to Stockton Beach for "Safety Reasons"

Did anyone else in the Hunter Valley catch it and can correct my dodgy information?

I can't find anthing useful on the Port Stephens Council web site.

Didn't hear anything but......talking about safety !! Lavis lane entry is always a problem ( and is probably dangerous )...
Why they don't make in and out tracks is beyond me.......always accidents and people getting bogged trying to pass along the access track !!

I haven't used the Lavis Lane entry for years for just that reason.

Geoff
The Birubi beach access from the car park at the end of James Patterson Rd IS CLOSED.

However the beach access lane off Gan Gan rd (near Old Main Rd) Anna Bay, IS OPEN, this brings you onto the beach about 500m south of the public bathing area. This was so last weekend 22/11/08.
Cheers Colin.

Hi Colin,
That was one of the first things the National Parks did when they took over was to close the access from the surf club car park.

Ok, seems to be business as usual then!

I might even get up there one night over the weekend for a fish if I'm lucky!
