$1000... You'd want to mount it on the mantle piece for that!!

Yep!
Given that there are only 999 being produced, (so we are told), you're right. Be OK if you had a spare $1000, in 50 years time it might be worth a bit more.

As far as general use goes, at that price, NO WAY. The normal run-of-the-mill "Leatherman" at under $200 is still pretty pricey for some (like me).

I make do with a cheaper copy, does all I ever need it to.

So Far.

Would be nice though.

Disco.

Then you wouldn't be able to see it if you were stoking the fire.

Keep in mind that if you're in NSW, you face a $500 fine and a Criminal Record for 10 years if you carry a knife in public without lawful excuse.

same as in SA
but then again if the multitool is enclosed in its sheath they would have a hard time trying to make the charge stick.

Must be tough to have a bbq/picnic that way! I guess it all comes down to defining a knife, what is "in public" and a lawful excuse. Sounds like way too much to worry about.

Kind regards

That's the prolem with the laws in NSW - it's up to the officer to decide how to interpret the law.

The law passed in NSW that had to be declared unconstitutional by the Federal Court - $3000 fine for ANNOYING a catholic !

How many people realise that "presumption of innocence" is no longer appliicable in NSW because they found it too hard to convict people - if you get charged with Stolen Goods you have to prove you're innocent.

The Police are just applying the powers given to them by the Gestapo Government in NSW.

G’day Mike,

I presume this is a sign of the times where the minorities (oops - did I say that) dictate their agendas and we end up with unworkable laws. I find these ridiculous situations popping up and it affects my 4 wheel driving, camping, fishing, shooting, washing the car, disposing of rubbish, how I manage my kids, how or what I say etc. This is truly a case of bring back the good old times!

Kind regards

I was told this story by the father involved.
Qld father was doing some work in sons car, and accidently left knife inside the car.
Son and mates were stopped in NSW by police (random license etc check) and the knife was spied by the policeman...son was charged. (Its not mine, never seen it before etc).
Father was not happy ..at all.

Now just how true the above is, only my story teller knows but it goes to show what, at least , the perceptions of the knife in public laws are.

The system is based on fear, the fear of being caught out! Due to the various giveaways I have 3 of these things and have made them part of my travel kit. The problem is that the law only seems to work on the past and present and probably would not appreciate that I carry this for eventualities that I hope will never occur. Not unlike paying my insurance bill, carrying recovery gear, tyre levers, hammers, first aide kit (also includes a very sharp knife) and tools including screw drivers. Guess I’ll go to goal forever whilst the career crim gets off on suspended sentences for being part of gang and having a firearm. Crazy world!

G'Day Mr Beatit. I can't think of a 4wd that probably wouldn't have at least one "nasty" in it somewhere.
I always taught my kids to be nice and polite to the Law, because if they really want to getcha, they'll find something or manufacture it.

mine is always attached to my belt excepting when in use of course, so to me its not a weapon.....they can have their opinion but to me its a tool!

its only a weapon when used offensively...
can you get pinched for stabbing your self in the finger.. done that a couple times

even tried to go the scanners at the magistrates court last year only to be told " We'' Hold It For You SIR" "Ok" says I.....hahaha....did it at the airport once too...you forget your wearing it

Sorry guys but I’m a little over sensitive at the moment. Someone (they never tell you who) made a vexatious complaint about my youngest son which resulted in 10 of QLD finest serving a search warrant at 6-30 AM a couple of Friday ago. I’ve never been so embarrassed or angry in my life – what an absolute waste of police resources. They were also just doing their job but I wish they’d spent a little more time on substantiating the reason.

I've got a couple of Leathermans, and love them.
But I've also got the mini version on my keyring, and it is simply the most useful tool I own....I would say it gets used at least once every day.
It gets used for jobs far bigger than what you would expect such a small tool to be capable of.
Even at work, where I have a full complement of tools at my disposal, I often find myself pulling the 'dinky toy' out of my pocket....job done.
Saves me a lot of legwork:-)

Cheers

I hav a friend in his late 50's (you know real ol bugger lol) He has to wear slacks/shirt and go into peoples home everyday for telecommunication work, now i would think it weird if i never saw that leatherman in its sheath on his belt,,
Even going out for a meal its on there.

Yet i hav complained about drug dealing in my town on the street corners (they dont bother hiding the fact anymore handing out $100 bills like a fanned pack of cards) I grabbed Two coppers this day as they got outa there unmarked car and explained and point where it was going on about say 50-80metres away, they said mate by the time we get to that corner over there they will run in all directions so basically we would be better going into this coffee shop we illegally parked in front of (loading zone) before you rudely interupted us...

Yet carry a leatherman and you get busted come off it,the mongrels wont be getting mine without capsicum spray.....

Cheers

If carrying a knife is an issue, just replace it with a Stanley Fat Max Wrecking Tool:

Image Could Not Be Found

One sits behind my driver's seat.

Just in case I see anything that needs wrecking.

I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

Best hide it under the seat - carrying that in NSW you'd get pinched for every break and enter within 100 Klm radius in the last 12 mts

Yet the funny thing is the most deadlest weapon known is the PEN!!!

Pen you say, you can use it to stab, pierce, poke and kill. yet they don't take them off planes or people.

The reason i came to this was a guy i worked with who is a martial artist like myself and i sat down and were talking about our different styles and we got talking about weapons and he asked me which is the most deadliest weapon and i said the pen, and he agreed.

They say the pen is mighter then the sword!!!

On another note i was up in qld a few years back and i merchandised a store and i was baled up by 2 of qld's best asking me whats in my pockets, after pulling out all of my loose change, room key and dirty hankies, never mind i was fiddling with my bag that had a knife with a 4" blade in it, they left me alone.

I can't complain about nsw coppers as i know a few of them and if you treat them with respect and tell the truth they leave you alone, i almost got busted exceeding the limit by 20 plus kilometres and the copper let me off with a warning which i am most thankful as i would have lost my liecense due to l ack of points.

but i do liek the leatherman and think that as a tool it should be exempt from the stupid rule!
