ARB have a better finish and from memory you have to buy an additional winch mounting kit for a TJM bar.

If I would on the market for BB now, I would simply ignore those one that have not got high-lift jacking points.

Cheers

Fair call, my ARB bar has jacking points.
You can't go past the quality of an ARB bar and the way they back there products should you have any issues is FANTASTIC!
Now is the only time you own
Decide now what you will,
Place faith not in tomorrow
For the clock may then be still

The jacking points on ARB could be a bit wider apart. You lift one side and the whole front end comes up. It might as well just have one point in the centre.

Looking for adventure.

If price difference is not part of the equation also have a look at ECB bullbars , were the most expensive when I was looking for a new bar but must say they had the best overall finish when it comes to "looks",, as others have said some tjm require the winch mounting plate , acts as a solid bash plate as well , arb incorparate highlift jack points but can be on tjm as well.

Here's an interesting one for you on East Coast Bullbar's (ECB)

I had a need yesterday morning to go to the factory were the Long Ranger Fuel tanks that ARB sell are made.

They make other things there too such as battery trays and oddly enough East Coast Bullbars. No idea if they make all of them or just some of the range.

They had a heap of them all boxed up and ready for shipment!

Geoff , ECB factory is in Snook st. Clontarf /Redcliff / just over the Hornibrook bridge on the nth side of Brisbane , perhaps ARB is buying ECB bars and then doing a rebadge.

Maybe they use Long Ranger as a production backup?

I was talking to the factory manager and he definitely said they were making them there, just not how many or which models.

Another snippet of useless information, the Long Ranger brand and factory isn't owned by ARB it's owned by a local Newcastle bloke who happens to have two 4wd stores that also sell ARB gear. One of the stores is ARB branded and the other isn't.

Curious world this world of manufacturing.

Thanks for the info, I wondered were ECB are based.

There is an ARB winch bar in the trader section to suit current model 76 series toyota. I know it is in good condition and only $850, is a good buy if that's what you are after.

The steel TJM bar for the troopy (there used to be a few from TJM and I am only refering to the model I have) does not require a winch plate, has hi-lift jack points and the spot lights I had fitted in between the bars. The equivalent ARB bar required some sort of bracket for the spot lights that moved them forward. Finish was good and it had sufficent rear facing brackets for UHF and sand flag etc. I am looking around for a new supplier as ARB have been painful both times I have dealt with them. The last experience with TJM was also not great though they had been good up until then.

G'day Marilyn I am going through this process at the moment, ARB have one style of bar (all basically look the same) with various options, winch no winch, fogs no fogs, flares no flares.

TJM have two styles of bar to suit, the T13 Outback bar and T 13 Fleet bar, once again the out back bar comes with various options, the fleet bar has less options.
One of the major differences between Fleet and Outback, besides visual,is the way winch mounts.Fleet bar winch is mounted conventionally, bolts to front, where the Outback bar winch is mounted face down, bolts from underneath.

I will try and post some photos of the Outback bar and ARB bar, you will see, if photos work, ARB has the better approach angle.
I am trying to find a Fleet bar so I can see how the approach angle differs, if at all. To find a picture of Fleet bar download latest 70 series catalogue off the TJM website.

I hope this helps, I still have'nt made up my mind. I personally prefer the looks of the TJM but I don't like the where the winch mounts and of course I would prefer the better approach angle. I will just have to keep searching for a Fleet bar so I can have a good look at it.

Adam.

Standard genuine Nissan steel bar is actually an ARB made bar. I have had 3 up the rear crashes (Me up the rear of car in front)and the damage to my bar in almost nothing except for a few scratches to the powder coating. I have also had the unfortunate incidences of hitting several roos and there has not been a mark on it. For me ARB is the way to go.

Either will be OK, but if you want one that works get steel, Alloy will probably crack under decent size Roo strike.

Crack .... and bend like a banana .........

But not if you get a decent one made up. All depends on whether they are made as dress up or for work.
