We have discovered yesterday afternoon that there is an easy way to engine change into older vehicle. You use an injector pump off a 1HDT and then fit the manual throttle cable. It then becomes a 1HD-FT. We are in the process of installing into an 80 series now. All the electronics are in the fuel delivery supply. We are simply changing back to a "mechanical" delivery. Will keep posted on progress. Hope to have all the parts and be finished by the end of December.

watching with baited breath. I'm wanting to put a 1HDFT into an 80 series but I may find it easier to obtain a 1HDFTE, so if this works it opens up my options.

Also interested to see what it ends up costing you overall, too.

We are replacing a blown 1HDT so unfortunatley we are unable to wait for a cheaper motor to come up. At this stage we are looking at complete change over for around $10 - 12,000. This includes the cost of a complete Turbo overhaul and injector pump overhaul.

You are right and wrong....the hdt pump will fit with work to the timing case (tap new holes) and also shaft size of pump mainshaft could be different...i remember reading someone else had to slieve something in there...allso, you will need to purchase 6 x hdft injecters, as the hdfte pump and injecters run double the pressure to the hdt and hdft system.
Personally, i would pay for someone to fit the computer and get the extra power thats available for free...have you asked round for aftermarket computers??
