I frankly think it is a risk. 257 km is huge. Components will be worn, everthing from the gearbox and diff to the pedal rubbers and the seats.
At the price being asked, or even less, you are paying the Toyota premium.
In the current climate, used cars have fallen dramatically. Consider some of the brands that do not carry the premium of having John Laws or Greg Norman endorsing them.
I'm not sure if you need a full size 4wd, only you can answer that. If not, the likes of Jackaroo and Terracan can be had for that sort of money at a much younger age with less than 100 km.
Had a customer in last week who picked up a 2004 4.8L Patrol Ti with 160km for 18K. This is a guide to an alternative in the "big" 4wd market.

Jim!, your not telling him what the jackeroo, and terracan will be worth in five years time, Add a modest 100,OOOks to all of them, The yota will be still worth ten grand as long as it runs!!.
The other two will be another headache for the local tip.
Cheers Axle.

Axle,
I have no idea what any of the vehicles will be worth in 5 years.
My point was simply around the risk. A vehicle that already had 257 on it is entering the period when things are expected to wear out and fail. Keeping such a vehicle on the road could be an expensive exercise. This may
well outweigh any resale value concerns.
By buying something with under 100KM, one might reasonably expect to get another 100 to 150 of trouble free motoring.
Of course there are never any guarantees, but the risk is significantly reduced.
Cheers,
Jim.

An expensive way for mum to drive around town. Spend $5k on a good economical 4cyl runabout, & the other $10k on a good low k
V6 Jack for holidays. Works for me...:))....oldbaz.

Thanks for the replies guys. Will probably spend a little more for something newer, either landcruiser or prado. Regards.
