Hey extfilm
As i stated " Yeh I work for Toyota "
The price i quoted is straight out of the Toyota accessories catalouge, so thats where i "get my prices from"
As for LURKING, i've been on this site for years, and have never promoted any of the manufacturers i've worked for,... ( toy, Niss, Mits ) but do often give tech advise when i can to help people out. I never suggest or advise anyone to "stick with genuine" just because i work for a dealer, unless i believe that it is the best option based on personal experiences
Good on you for getting a bullbar for 1k, thats what they are worth for the Nav. (yes did work for Ni$$an)

Do you only have the one quote if so suggest that you get 2 or 3 and then compare. That should give you a pretty good indication of what cost to expect. In other words -
shop around. It's a consumer's market at the moment.

That's less than Toyota quoted me for a winch compatible bar but a bit more than ARB want for a steel one for our Prado. Their top of the range bar was something like 2700.00 fitted.
I'll go with the ARB purely for the extra strength of steel.

Can't understand why one wouldn't have rung around a few 4WD accessory
places like ARB, TJM, etc to check.
Why even fit a genuine Toyota bar at all? It cost about the same to get a compliant ARB or TJM bar which is stronger and more versatile if you need recovery points and lift points, etc.

I hope for other newbies sake, that wizard does not try to be so condescending or maybe just thoughtless in future. Pointing out facts like ARB/TJM have advantages over Toyota bullbars just might have been more helpful and less intimidating.
Crikey, we're all learners at most things sometime.

...And possibly wrong, often you can get bullbars cheaper and better from toyota/nissan etc. Maybe he can even learn from threads like this.

I got a winch bar from the wreckers for about 12 phone calls and $150, and fitted it myself for a 6 pack. TJM wanted about $1700. So I saved a little :)

Dunno which state you're in mate but Im an ex fitter (wont mention which company). I'm trying to get my own fitting business going. If you're in brissy and already have the bar I can fit it for $60 an hour.

Hey surf girl?????????????? $60 an hour........ you would be lucky to get 15 mins in fitting a bull bar unless u only used a spanner? Majority of people are ignorant. I got a mate in bris needs a bull bar fitted....... He has taken off his bumper but needs the bull bar fitted????????????? As I charge to my mates 60 an hour..... it cost him 15 an hour and a case to do the job.!!!!!!!!!!!!! will u do it for that price???? am interested? or maybe take a few pic???????

I had a colour coded arb winch bar supplied and fitted at TJM of
all places.
Trade prices were
Bar about $1417.00
Colour coding $250.00
Then the fitting of the winch and bar. I am trying to look for the receipt but can't find it. This should give you a rough idea.
If it is a 120 series prado beware about the ARB bar as they wobble immensley. You do get used to it.
I hope that gives you an idea of prices. This was in 2005.

My Sovereign alloy Bull bar was fitted by Toyota in 7/2007 for $1842, so the $2000 is in the money.

I'd suggest you could pick up a Soverign bar for much cheaper than Toyota price and get it fitted by a 4WD
shop. They seem to get sold off when people get a steel bar. Think there was one on pradopoint.com the other day but I'd be checking eBay too.
