Hi all. Need some help. Have a 2002 Rodeo. Replaced the original
battery about 2yrs maybe less ago. Replaced it with an Exide
extreme. This battery now has a couple of dead cells. Got to replace it.
Any tips on what to replace it with. I do not do many Km around
town only trips. It is used only to start 4by, all the Fridges&Lights,
chargers are powered by separate batts charged by solar .
Thanks Brian

Extremes came with a 24month replacement warranty. Might be worth looking for a receipt?

Hi - generally with exide you don'need the reciept - just take it to a dealer and they will know its age...

The battery will have the date stamped on the top edge if bought at a battery retailer, so will be exchanged without a receipt in many cases.

Check your electricals, including all earthing points, charging rates and possible 'slow leaks' through faulty switches and relays.
If you want that done professionally, seek out the sparky who only likes to meet his clients once every couple of years ;)
Then have a look at Optima yellow top, spiral wound, absorbed glass mat batteries for cranking or their red top ones for cranking and deep cycle.
If your electrics are critical for your survival etc. this is one area where you cannot afford to a) go cheap and b) listen to the bull s*it from mates "in the know".
Teh Interwebs have a mass of info on the subject, so do a bit of research of your own. Avoid taking the word of anyone trying to sell you something unless you can find independent technical sources that will back up what they say.
And beware of "brand loyalists", they mostly have only one eye functioning ;)
Cheers
Nigel

I always get the biggest battery that will fit into the tray.
Ive had a good 3 yrs on my landcruisers with a cheap chinese battery in each vehicle.
If you re mainly hanging around town you dont need top of range battery.
Take some jumper leads as a backup

Brian
With respect no one else should add to this thread as the first two replies say it all and are 100% correct.
