Good evening all

Have just come across a shower in a caravan that is using rubber hosing for the hot and cold water.

Two questions is this normal , and if so where can I pick up the connectors to hook it up to a normal 80 ltr HWS (240 V), the van is going to be used as an on-site van.

Most new houses are plumbed using the rubber/plastic hose these days.
Any plumbers supply place will have the required connectors.

The use of the grey hose in plumbing needs a special crimping tool to attach the various connectors/joiners etc. It's not a cheap item and not one the handyman would usually have lying around.

You can get Fittings to suit, just take the Brand Name and the
Series Number, which should be marked on your pipe, to the
Plumbing Supply Shop, re: Reece Plumbing or Trade Links ect,
they will sell you Pipe Fittings to suit, if you can cut off a piece of
the pipe, just a small bit, that will help identify what type it is,
you can get Slip On Connectors or Adaptors to fit, you DONT have
to use Crimpping Tools for most Poly Butalane Pipe.

G'day BooBoo
Go to any caravan parts supplier ask them to help.
Most caravans are plumbed using 10mm pipe pressure and fittings made by John Guest and no special tools are required.
You can view these at: http://www.caravansplus.com.au

"Most caravans are plumbed using 10mm pipe pressure"
Most caravans are plumbed using 12mm pipe. 10mm is rare as hens teeth and 10mm fittings are impossible to find. CaravansPlus has a 10mm to 12mm adaptor.

Good afternoon everyone

Thank you very much for your help.

I am going down the coast on the weekend and I'll take a small piece of the hose with me to a caravan and plumbing supplier.

Regards Bob

Just to let you know that in the AS3500 plumbing code the use of other than copper pipe within 1mtre of the outlet a hot water heater is not allowed and also most plastic type pipe systems will not warrant their product for this use and most have temp limitation on them usually [65deg].But then again there is always someone who will look after the interests of a maintanance plumber!
