Hi All,

Just stumbled across the site this week and now my wife thinks I a having an affair with somebody here as I have spent soooo much time on it.

Qustion/Statement:
I am very interested on how different people have got thier EEEPC's set up in thier vehicles and any advice/tips that they might have for me. Looking for advice on mounting (maybe I am having an affair) and software set-up etc.

Sshhhh I have to go here she comes.

Thanks

Rossi

Rossi

There was a similar question asked in post 63879 to which I and others replied as far as mounting a laptop goes.

Now I have been on this site for 7 years and my wife comes in to the study and says "Hmmmm...talking to your friends in the box again?"......lol

Cheers

I havn't an answer on how to mount the Eee PC, but what power supply do you use in th truck ?
most 12v dc units start at 17 v dc and go up to 24v
the Eee 901 needs 12 volt

Hi Dennis,

You can buy 12v adapters on ebay for each EEE model. I ordered mine yesterday so I am still waiting for them to arrive. The ones I got cost around $20 including postage.

Gooday Rossi, I have a GU Patrol and have made a PVC shelf from a piece of sewer pipe, which is inserted into a small "glove" pocket in the top centre of the dash. It is held in place with velcro and a tennis ball which pushes tightly into the pocket. Simply removes when not in use. Pc held in place with velcro.

Don't know what the dash set up is like in a Pathfinder, so can't comment.

Stevo,

Do you have any photo's? Sounds like a good option to $100's of on a proper laptop holder.

You have given me some things to think about, thanks.

Yep, I'm also keen to see how people are mounting their mini-laptops. Mine is a Dell Inspiron Mini-9, very similar to the others on the market, and I'd like to mount it off the upper DIN slot in the middle of the dash (GU Patrol).

Stevo,

Looks good.

Unfortunately Pathfinder does not have the same provision for mounting.
Actually I have taken the pussy way out and purchased a mounting system on ebay and it actually works well. I will try to get some photos after I get my machine back, I am in the process of "pimping my ride" ie snorkel, lifted, long range tank, dual battery system, rear tyre carrier & UHF radio.

Rossi.
