HI All,

Just bought a Ctek 15000 and want to mount it in the camper trailer. I wanted to mount it in the tool box but the lead won't reach battery. Is it ok to mount it on the outside of trailer, it shouldn't get to wet but will be exposed to dust. It comes with clamps so I'll have to cut them off and put on some eyelets. Still have to work out the incoming 240V side of it yet.

Thanks

Hi Pizzle,

I have the 7000 and don't know if yours is the same but there is a plastic male / female plug about a foot from the alligator clips. What I did is I got a Male or female can't remember which one it is from dick smith and just extended the leads to the length you want. This has proved very useful as the alligator clips can be reinstalled to charge other portable batteries if required.

My 3600 actually came with both eyelets & battery clamps, but I can't see a problem with extending the cable as long as you keep the same cable size.

It has an IP44 rating. Splash proof but not dust proof.

I have the 7000 and use a combination of anderson plugs with clips .
A couple of photos might give you some ideasImage Could Not Be FoundImage Could Not Be Found

I have an Anderson plug for charging 2nd battery in Vehicle (forms part of battery box) and for 3rd battery in van.
2nd battery can also be charged via anderson plug as shown in second picture, and this set up is used for 3rd battery in van when it needs charging.

2nd battery, in back of vehicle is normally charged by Ctek7000 which is fixed to floor in rear via 3M dual lock.
By runing a 240 lead through rear door (prado) vehicle can be locked at night and with use of a double adaptor battery is charged and the Waeco runs off mains power.

Don't forget it needs some ventilation as they get quite warm when their pumping out max current.

Bad idea to mount it outside.
Just fit an Anderson plug to extend the leads and it should work well. Much better to mount it in the toolbox out of the weather. but make sure your toolbox doesn't let water in or you could light youself up when you plug it in.
