Hi All,
Just put a set of bridgestone 694Lt (265/70R16) on patrol.
I asked the tyre bloke which were the best AT and he recommended them.
After reading thread # 58527 I had a look, and see they are made in Japan! Have I done the right thing with my purchase or not?
Some comments on performance from those who have them would be appreciated. Thank You, P&J

Excellent choice - I have been using these tyres (the same set now) for a number of years and have had no major dramas with them.
Of course there will be differing opinions but using my what is a good tyre evaluation method being:- black, round and full of air they are a good tyre.
I will most likely be buying them again when the time comes however looking at the tyres it will still be some time away.
Enjoy.

Hi David,
Thanks your reply, I think these LT (Light Truck) 694's are only fairly new version not sure. Cheers.

Yes the 694LT were only introduced recently. I have the 693LT Duelers on my vehicle and have done for the last couple of years, excellent choice of tyre. Both are relatively the same, though the new 694LT are supposed to be better , so they must be good.

I ordered 5 694LT 235x85R16 for my 75 series today.
The dealer said they have tried to come up with a tyre that had the same qualities as the 693 but be more durable.
We'll see : /

We have 694 A/T on 06 Hilux SR5 - 255/70 15 - and very happy with highway/wet/dirt performance. Strangely difficult to get correct size tyres for this vehicle, given its popularity. Tried to get BFG (ie Michelin) but don't do one.
After 63k on pretty ordinary 693s which came standard, the ride and grip is a vast improvement, but maybe wont get 63k out of the 694s, either.
Would be interested to know of others' experience with fuel consumption, though. Don't want to hijack the thread, but seem to be about 0.4 to 0.5 l/100km worse off with the 694s, still running 40psi highway pressure. Comments?
Regards, John.

I have found the same the same with
mine - I put it down to rolling resistance. Our driveway has the slightest of slopes. With the old 693's you would roll, with the new 694's you don't roll ,even with the same pressure.
Cheers

I've had 693's (came as original equipment) and wasn't very impressed with them at all, ESPECIALLY after about 1/2 tread life, as they caused the vehicle to aquaplane dreadfully and handle like a wet sponge on glass!!
After 50,000km out of them (probably could have got over 60,000 but they made me too nervous in the wet) I had 694's fitted and am a lot happier. After 10,000km they are far better than the 693's were brand new.
THe 694's have a much better tread pattern for grip off the tar and better wet weather performance on tar.

I rarely tow and don't carry heavy weights, so I chose the Australian made non LT version of the D694 in the 265/70R16 profile.
When compared to the original 693's on an MK Triton, the new 694's eliminate some of the speedo error Mitsubishi couldn't/wouldn't correct!

Thanks to all who replied, as no info on the Japaniese made came up in replies I will just have to wait and see how they go.
The original 693's only gave me 47,000 K's.
Cheers all P&J

Sorry, forgot to mention,
mine are Japanese made. The tyre dealer is a personal friend of over 30 years, and trust his advice. He reckons they are a good tyre.

Correct these are a new tyre only very recently introduced. I bought a set the week they were released. Apparently they were first set to go out of my local Bridgestone dealer in May this year.
Sadly I have not had a good experience with these tyres. Lost one within 200kms driving on very good gravel road (sidewall). Lost another last week with a nail puncture. Now I know that’s not the tyres fault. However - in the time it took from flat tyre to stopping the car the sidewall failed.
Like I say only really a couple hundred meters of driving it flat. This can be seen by looking at the tyre. Usually a tyre that has been run flat is obvious to see. This tyre had no time to even get scuffed etc from running flat and to the eye first looks ok. On closer inspection can see and feel sidewall separation so it’s stuffed.
After running 693s prior to this I thought the new "tougher" tyre could only be better. My 693s...Never lost one and they did some pretty heavy stuff heaps of rocks and gravel around the
Pilbara where I live.
My verdict - wish I had never bought them and will not be touching them again.

I have also fitted a complete set 694's to my Hi-lux, still too new to comment, only to say they are a lot better than the original tyres .Tony.
