Anybody put 16 x 7 Wheels on a 60 Series Cruiser, if so what type?

To allow my Cruiser to legally carry more weight am looking at fitting 16x7 wheels and tyres. The 60 series has wheels with Zero Offset, the 80 series has a positive offset and will not fit.

If you have done the upgrade or know of the wheel required or offset required, would appreciate you letting me know.

Thanks

Peter

In 16x7 you're pretty much limited to the white spoke steel wheels. I had a friend fit some Speedy desert rats in 16x7 to his 60series.

Your other option is to find some 16x6 tubeless chrome rims that were originally equipment on some of the 60series, but they are hard to come by. You can then use 235/85R16 with a load index of 120. Many of the chrome 60series rims were split rims with the split on the inside - my preference is to use tubeless.

Not sure where you live, but Royal Park Tyres recently had a good range of second hand 60series rims, and Used Tyre Mart at Wingfield usually has plenty of rims.

Phil,
Do Not have a problem with the Speedy wheels, But need to know which one. What OFFSET was/is your mates wheel or what model did it come off eg Nissan Patrol 92.

The wrong one can hit the inside or outside of the front guard when going over bumps and its hard to determine with a static fittment.

thanks for your reply

Peter,
I'd be 99% sure the Speedy's were zero offset and not the +30.
Cheers

Hi peter
ROH track 2 rims i have on my 60 and also these are the same as what they supply for an 80 seris too, they just sit out a bit more. Sounds wrong but this is what my dealer said after he got off the phone from ROH themselfs.

What will the new weight limit for the 60 be? and what mods have to be done?
cheers

I bought some today from a Bridgestone dealer. He tried to get ROH ,but they no longer make them.
I think I ended up with either Mullins or Speedy rims
They were about $98 ea.
Have to wait 10 days for them to come from the east

Ross, my understanding is that ROH 16x7 can carry the most weight, and thats what I am after.

I can understand that but if they dont sell enough ,they stop making them and thats what has happened.
Someone may have new old stock somewhere
ROH still make a 16x8

Another option is to try the 4wd competition stores.
My local Opposite Lock was selling steel rims for about $130 each that were much heavier than normal, but whether they stock a 16x7 ,i dont know.

Otherwise try finding some of the originall steel rims the 60 had.
They are supposed to be the strongest.

Thanks for your replies,
Was hoping for a steel 16x7 wheel to carry 1250KG but ROH wheels only carry up to 1200KG and to replace my 15" steels and tyres will cost $3,000 extra. Note the tyres that can be fitted to this wheel 16x7 @ 1200Kg can far exceed the wheel capacity. Why the tyre companies bother beats me.

So am now looking for a 15Inch tyre 31x10R15 with a rating of 112 to match my wheel carrying load of 1120KG. ie up from a 109 rating of 1030KG.
