Wanted to get opinions on Lead Acid vs AGM batteries for a camper trailer
Also have the option to upgrade system in the following way
25 amp sinergex charger upgraded from 10 amp Projecta
300 watt sinergex inverter upgraded from 300 watt Projecta
100 Amp hr AGM batteries instead of Lead Acid
Cost for upgrade is approx $1000.
Dont know alot about the differences of the above items
Juat after some ideas as to whether it is good value /money well spent or dont bother
Thanks in advance for your feedback

Battery types are often confusing, and mis-interpreted. An AGM is a Lead Acid battery, a gel is a lead acid battery. I think you are confusing 'flooded' with 'AGM', yes?

AGM are very good deep cycle batteries, much better than flooded batteries. They need a specific cycle regime though, the charger needs to be compatible with an AGM (or gel). Most smart chargers these days do the job nicely although I have no comment on the sinergex, never used one.

With the price of batteries having gone thru the roof and the $ going down the question u pose is a hard one ,, me I,d be asking for a full price breakdown on the variables , how much $ difference for EACH of the proposed upgrades ,not just a total combined , depending on brand a 100amp hr AGM will vary by mega $ alone ,,, The projecta charger will charge an AGM but obviously not as quick as the Sinergex ,, the inverta is a question of price and quality and not of capacity ... My Fullriver AGMs are now all 6yrs old and still as good as the day they were bought , allways charged from vehicle altenator /solar and or c/tec charger.

Have a look at this thread 63237. It provides some good feedback and opinions on different types of batteries.

I am sure there are others if you search.
