Some of you may remember my post about chargers and 12v power supplies afew weeks back.

I had bought a 10 amp charger with varable output power supply from Supersheat.
Some doubted the longevity of their chargers and they were correct.
It lasted 2-3 charges and then began to take longer and longer.
In the end it was taking 3 days to charge a 100 amp decor calcium from 11v to 13.3v.

I had had enough. Found the receipt, convinced the kids at supersheat that it there was no more the same on the shelf and got my money refunded.
I bought a 15a CTEK off weebay and used it today for the 1st time, wow what a difference :D

Gday ross, I also bought a CTEK off Ebay and so far it has worked fine, and I'm also very happy with the purchase. But it has been pointed out that I may have an issue with warranty were it ever needed, because the Ebay seller buys direct from overseas and not through the Australian Distributor. Hopefully I'll not have to test this!
For all their problems, at least Supercheap honour warranty. One day they might learn the value of stocking quality goods.

Phil,

Supercheap purposely cater to a mass market of people who buy stuff that will only be used once or infrequently. It does the job NOW at the cheapest price without regard to longevity.

They do have SOME good stuff (I got the SuperWorksGold sockets and they are pretty good) but most of it is just consumer grade crap that will be lent or lost long before it has a chance to wear out.

There is a whole different market of professional tool shops for those that want to build a collection of quality tools that will last a lifetime (with associated up-front cost that works out cheaper over time as you don't have to buy the same thing ten times!)

It is a good business model and as a shareholder we are seeing pretty good returns. A true case of horses for courses.

Cheers
Muddy

I bought my Ctek from the same seller in SA, he is using Australian stock because it has an Au in the serial number. so there should be no problem with wty.

The seller ,4WDExtreme, is offering a 2year warranty,so fingers crossed.

SC do have some good stuff. I bought one of their big drills with 2speed,hammer function, reverse and variable speed.
For drilling metal you cant beat it for $68.
A drill this size would cost a couple of hundred for the well known brand.
Maybe they even come from the same factory.

I also bought a $20 electric screwdriver and I am also pleased with that.

In regards to the charger,if I had of swapped it for another it may have been alright.
What I like about the CTEK is that is much smaller than the one it replaced and fits into its storage spot much easier

The Ctek product is absolutely brilliant, I also have a cheapie 10amp charger I bought from Supercheap (Have had to replace the fuses twice). I have 2 x 25amp chargers running in my boat and they have never let me down.
