2 years ago our family did a 6 week trip over Xmas, young Philip was concerned about Santa not finding him while he was away.

Every night we would put a Xmas tree in front of the tent, the first night we stopped at Daly Waters Pub. As we were putting the tent up, Santa came around on the back of the fire truck, needless to say Philip was happy, and a big night at the pub was had by all.

Every night along the way, the Xmas tree was placed outside the tent at places such as Kurumba, Undara, and Palm Cove, so Santa could follow us to Nanny and Poppy's.

We had Xmas in Cairns with my Mum and Dad (Grey Nomads) at Palm Cove C/V Park, once again the tree and some decorations were in front of Nanny's van and our tent. About 9PM Santa came along with a huge procession, this is the norm in Cairns on Xmas Eve.

Philip was 4 1/2 and as HAPPY AS.

This year we are staying home as we plan a 3 month trip to Europe next year, to have Xmas with Oma and Opa in Germany, so this year we will put the lights up at home. I love decorating the house, Philip loves turning them on before he goes to bed!

I will put them up this week and post photos of them soon.

Cheers Steve.

I reckon you could have used an 80w PB solar panel to charge the AGM so the 12v tree lights could run all nite for you guys. What did ya do Steve and what sort of panel and battery would you advise for not only the fridge but for the lights as well. It must be considered that the current draw for flashing Christmas tree lights would be about 50% of non flashing lights because of the duty cycle..

Looking forward to a reply as this topic has not been discussed on this forum before. You can always learn something new here on EO eh but....

Grrr!!!
