Steve, I am going to Tassie over Christmas and January and contacted Tasmanian Fisheries and have been advised if I fish with rod and line in the river mouths and ocean, I do not need a licence. If fishing in inland waterways, permits are needed from the local authorities.
Hope this helps.
Regards John

Great toi hear. I've got two days on Bruny coming up and have also got some fishing gear to take. I might try out the Ultrabite stuff for bait.

Little flat head on chromies, too.

For a stunning couple of campsites, try East Cloudy bay (via the beach) and Jetty Beach.

You will need 2 weeks though, not two days!

Slide show of '06 Tassi in the link below shows pics of both of these spots.

Cheers,
Peter

I'm there for just over 4 weeks and have specifically targeted certain areas.

Itinerary as follows:

Stanley 2 Nights

Deloraine 5 nights

Southport 3 nights

Bruny Island 2 nights

Richmond 3 nights (including Xmas Day)

Wayatinah 3 nights (including NYE)

With unplanned gaps in between.

I travel over on Dec 10 and come back across on Jan 7.

Gentlemen

You missed the point of the post

The lucky people that can travel all over AUSTRALIA in the one period of time (and it is ONE country) need to buy IN EACH state or territory, a right to fish at that time

The Same as "A NATIONAL PARK"

Hi Peter

All the reply's only spoke about Tassie where the question was about travelling around Aussie land and having to get a new bit of paper each time you cross an invisible boundary

Steve,
You don't look like a pensioner but it you are check our the situation. Pensions don't need a license in NSW or Vic.

Steve,
A freshwater Licence for Trout in Tassie is $36-00 for 12Mths for Pensioners. Purchased mine a week ago.
Salt water fishing with a line you won,t need a Licence but for Crayfish, Abalone, Scallops a Licence is required.

Gday Steve
I was led to believe that if you had a "Seniors" card, you don't need a licence......best to check.

A seniors card will give you a healthy discount on the Bruny ferry.
