Hi Zacc
Yes bubbles mean gas which can explode.
Please advise the details of the charger.
Note: The battery could have a bad cell or the charger is unregulated.

not sure of the specs of the charger. the charger is the standard power supplier that comes with the van 240 goes in and 12 comes out as
well as it being a batterie charger . the owners manual says it will charge at 13.9 volts and that is what it is charging at , but that is all the manual says no wiring diagram or specs.

Hi Zacc
How old is the battery ? (It could be ready for replacing)
Test the voltage at the battery to see if it is producing more than it should. I think that the battery should be tested and if it is fine then replace the charger.

You should get that checked by an Auto Sparkie.

Hi Zacc....I have the same type of van and the charger they instal is usually right for the job....
mine is ok and works fine...but yours sounds as though it is over charging...no, your battery should not be get hot or be bubbling,
mine stays cool and the charger which is on all the time while plugged in to the supply keeps it topped up.
Turn it off and have it checked out as soon as possible otherwise it will wreck your battery.

In 2005, jayco were using the centurion or ST series charger/power supply. They are a cheap and unreliable unit. The 'charging' mode is renowned to fail.
A 15 or 25 amp ctek is a very good replacement, and reliable. There is no need to use the power supply mode, just run everything of the battery.

we had a similar problem with our 2005 Avan.It cooked a delco battery, plus it was placed under the bed and the cooling fan in it was loud enough to wake you up,just nodding off after a good day's touring.Replaced it with a ctek xs7000 which is also has a power supply function and no cooling fan.No problems since.
