Does anyone with a Patrol 3.0L Turbo diesel suffer this problem??

When you accelerate particularly in 3rd gear, the turbo winds up, you start to take off, and then you lose power for a few seconds until you are around 2800rpm?

Its almost like the turbo is wound up and it dumps off some of the pressure. It feels great for a sec. and then dies in the arse.

Please give give any info if you have experienced the same thing.
Thanks.

I think this is a known ECU problem. If it is the one I've heard about, you back off and re accelerate. Apparently Nissan has a software fix, or you could go for a chip upgrade.Regds

Yes thats exactly it!

I called Nissan and they reckon it could be the air flow meter.

Its a bit of a worry....I had a 80 Series landcruiser for 10 years and put 330,000 kms on the clock and she never had a rattle.

I've had several problems with the GU already!

Not very comforting.

I'm taking it to Nissan next week so I'll let everyone know how I go.

yea as it was stated, its a well known ECU problem with GUs

Nissan have an 'updated' ECU for them, but I thought it was only early GUs that had the problem...??

Thanks for that.

Now I know its common I won't let it rest until its fixed. I've only done 60,000kms and having problems already! More technology means more to go wrong.

Its a 4/2000 model.

I have spoken to my local Nissan dealer and they are going to plug it into their diognostics machine on Monday. I have been told that this is already the second computer the car has had in its short life.

The first computer would just shut down the throttle when travelling at high altitude!

I'll let everyone know how I go with Nissan.
