When are you having these troubles - I have just spent the last hour updating a load of code and this has caused all sorts of issues. if it was during this period then there you go, if other then I am not sure - it is flying for us with sub 2 sec page redraws on every page for all people on the office - that is 5 machines running on the site today using various different browsers, OS's and system hardware.

Hi Steve,
It is not your computer, it is the same for me at home as
well. When I click on a
forum story that I wish to view, it takes about 10 seconds to open it up and the same when I have finished reading it, it takes just as long to get back to the
forum page.
Other sites that I often go to are not this slow. It is the same for all of the computers that I run, so I can not it down to on old slow computer.
My ADSL is 1500/256, is it is not the slowest ADSL contract available.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Steve
After sending the reply to you, I checked out a couple of things here on the
forum page. I said above it took about 10 seconds to refresh back to the previous page. I actually time it and it was 18 seconds. Like I said above, other sites that I go to have a very fast refresh time.
Cheers
Stephen

You want a slow site go to 4x4 monthly ,its one of the worst one the net!! IMHO....

Slow on my computer also.
O.K at work though. I don't have problems with any other sites, just this one. So bloody slow that I have solitaire open and play while I'm waiting for threads to open or to go back to the
forum index.
Never used to be this way.

Agree on the 4WD monthly give it a big miss these days as it is so slow.

Steve,
Its slow on both
mine as
well and I regularly get the
server error.
As a matter of fact, I have just put a new HDD in my desktop and loaded XP Pro fresh from the CD and only finished about 10 minutes ago and even its slow. Am loading Mozilla on now so will try again when installed.
Cheers,
Cruiser .

Guys,
I do not get it - In our ofice and at my clients sites (I test the system all day every day). I hit up hundreds and hundreds of
views of the
forum from our entire office and I never wait more than a few seconds for pages to load and go back and
forth. I put in a huge amount of effort to fix up the crappy performance of the ad networks and wrote some
tools to get around their issues and since then it has been super.
What Internet security are you guys all using? if it is Norton then I cannot help you until you get rid of it because it will have an impact on the computer. What ever you are using try disabling it for a short test and let me know what happens - I am intersted and want to fix up any issues but I cannot see it so have nothing to fix - I will need emails from you directly as I can only work on one series of issues at a time and cannot even think
where to start when 10 of you have a problem in a thread on the
forum as it is just so subjective and I cannot get any diagnoses from it. So please email me david@exploroz.com and tell me what you are using and test without security, tell me when it started etc and we can go from there.
David
PS: As you can see there are a number of people who do not have any problems including my 10 machines and about 6 other testing systems I use, our moderation team and I suspect hundreds of others so if you want me to try to fix your issues please contact me directly. I am always happy to work with people directly.

I would also like to know what state you are in if you email me - it may or may not have a bearing but I need to check. One other question would be does the page load and navigation lags or do you get a white screen while waiting, blue screen or anything else. I really have nothing to go by so need as much details as can be provided.

As fast as ever here in Melb, no issues at the moment in opening and closing pages.
I do notice a very small hang when clicking on the "Open Thread" box and found that if I hold the cursor on the button and hold the left mouse button down for a second or two rather than a quick click (If that makes sense??) it opens without much if any hang in the opening window.

Sorry White screen for about half a second then blue with the Home,
Forum, Trader etc etc navigation bar for about half a second then the full page loads.
Hope that helps.

Just a thought.....
As a member ( if I dare say that evil word) I think you have the right ( or privelage) to turn off a lot of the adds and things????
Might just speed things up???
Cheers
