Hi all
The new BFG Mud Terrain KM2 came onto the market a few months ago now and it's not long until I'll need a new set of shoes. Anyone who's used them or knows about them tell me what they're like especially compared to the old ones.
Are they better in the mud and do they self clean better? Are they good on rocks.
What are they like on the road and in the sand, better than the old ones, do they like wet roads?
How much do they cost and approximately how long do they last?
Do they get a good bagging affect when you let them down?
Have they got good lateral traction?
Anyone who's knows about them, tell me what you know. Thanks

If they are anything like the "old model" then they will be rippers.
BFG Muddies are a great tyre and very underrated in my view.

Hi Bucky
I have had these for 7000km's , have used them for two 3 day trips , both have been wet.
I replaced another set of muddies I had got a 'good' deal on but didnt like, they used to clog with mud were noisy and used to bag excessively in the sidewalls. These are now on my trailer.
I got BFG's again cause I had a set of AT's for touring and had a good run with them. BFG's have more sidewall plys than alot of other tyres , I think when you air them down they get longer but you dont seem to get heaps of sidewall bulge .
My last trip away was 2 weeks ago after a week of rain . To the
Watagan Mountains , they can be muddy at the best of times ,and didnt have a problem with traction.
They also seem to have good road manners, have you had a set of the old ones ? I wonder what the difference is ? Maybe just the side lugs .
Glenn.

Rod,
The track I was on had heaps of sharp rocks, got a slow leak, it was all over by the time I realised what was happening .
The set of tyres was nearing the end of its life anyway.

Had a set for 3 months and for 4 trips to the high country.
They handle pretty
well on the road, like BFG A/T but a bit noisier over 80kph. Not as noisy as the old M/T KM though.
Off road they seem a little better in mud but a lot better on rocky hills. ( went away with a mate who just got a set of 16" KM's so we could do a good back to back comparo). Very sure footed and not a
sign of sideways traction issues - I did think this might be an issue compared to the old design.
They seem to leave a deeper, more pronounced footprint on damp clayish tracks suggesting that they dig in more. I think they will clean themselves better because the tread looks a bit more open.
I felt very safe in them and am happy :-)
No experience with them in sand.
regards
