Gday Gramps,
I was trying to get my Daughter into horse riding lessons a few years ago. No one in town would do it anymore because of the insurance bull$hiit.
End up getting around it by signing a stat. dec. to say we couldnt sue for any accidents.
Cheers

G'day Hairy,
Yep, sadly that seems to be the way it's all going these days.

Hairy,
A stat dec will not release anyone of their liability. Just like you can't kill someone even if they asked you to. You could possibly reduce their liablity if you singed paper which stated that you knew the risks and accepted them.
However, if your daughter fell off the horse because of substandard and worn equipment (eg saddle), and became a quardaplegic costing you $150 000 a year in maintanance and hospital visits; would you try to recover that money from the people who caused it? Probably, and it would be your right with or without a stat dec.

It was enough for them to start giving lessons again, shes been riding for a couple of years now.
Would I try to recover money from them...No...its the risk you take....and my daughter checks her own gear.

Used to be a good spot years ago. Even their easy tracks were a challenge at times.Over the years the place went backwards.
Cheers.
