Having done a bit of outback driving, the experts all recommend that you use steel wheels for outback driving - If you hit a big pot hole, stump, or cattle
grid too hard, you can crack alloy rims, or worse. With steel rims, they can be bashed back with a hammer, whack in a tube ad you will get
home, and they are very cheap to buy new??? After-market alloys are also very cheap, and you might find a local supplier that has old stock or scratched rims he will give you for next to nix if you buy tyres???
Check ebay and trading post, as there are cheap packages there all the time. I also saw a couple of sets of factory ST-X rims on ebay earlier this week??? Nissan 6-stud is th most common - I think you will find that any IFS 4x4 will have similar offset - Triton, Rodeo, Hilux, etc??? You should be able to find stock Rodeo steelies at any decent tyre
shop, rusting around in the back???

thanks for input .i dont realy care if i get alloy or steel as they will be for 4wding not a fashon parade.it is that i was that d40s had a different of set and whilst others will fit they could do some damage over time .just dont get time to chase it up

I agree, limiting damage is a good idea - the point of the post was to inform you that most larger tyre dealers have a stack of steel wheels laying around out the back that they will give you, or if you want new, but some $80 steel wheels to teh correct offset, or spend $150 per wheel for some after market alloys at the correct offset? Go an inch wider at teh same time, and give yourself better options for tyres. We run 235x85x16 on one of the utes with no problems - this is a standard size. we have a 40mm lift on both of our D40s? ring around - you will be surprised?
