Folwers Bay (30k off the actual highway) - while pretty much an outpost with a basic CP and only with limited supplies and services, I love it there - top shelf coastal drives and scenery and excellent fishing. Need to get pretty much everything you want in Ceduna - BUT fuel on the other hand is usually cheaper at Penong - west of Fowlers, the Nullabor roadhouses all seemed wind blown travel stops only to us - while we enjoyed the drive (and the whales in season), things started to look up from Norseman and on for us.

Yeah I second the fowlers bay stop over.
We called in for a look and stayed about 4 days on our way back from the West.

40kmwest of Ceduna is a little piece of paradise....Davenport Creek.
Good fishing and good (free) camping. 4wd needed to traverse the sand dunes.

If you turn off the highway at Penong and head south, the road takes you over a causeway across the pink lake (Lake Macdonnell)

The road continues on and takes you to Cactus Beach (famous surfing beach), Point Sinclair, and a very pretty little place....Pt. LeHunte.

Point Sinclair from Cactus Beach

Pt. LeHunte

There is a basic campground here too.

Cheers

Hello,

Thank you so much for sending through those amazing photos! We both really enjoy fishing and we are doing this as an extended honeymoon before kids come along. Davenport Creek looks unreal. Thank you again

You'll love Davenport Creek then:-)

If ya can't get a feed of fish here, ya might as well give it away and take up golf or lawn bowls.

Cheers

Unreal! I see you took a boat with you, do you know what the fishing is like just off the beach?

The fishing in the estuary is very good. I was lazing around camp one day, just re-hydrating:-)....two locals came down and fished for an hour or so from the shore in the estuary. They were complaining to me that the fishing was real slow that day....but they still went home with a mixed bag of about 20 whiting, salmon trout, and a couple of big flathead. They reckoned that they usually did much better than that.
At low tide you can see a ledge where the bottom drops off about 2 metres. On a high tide, the fish gather just beyond that ledge.
You can watch the stingrays cruise along the drop-off looking for a meal....fascinating stuff.

I didn't try on the surf beach (was too windy for me), but there are some nice gutters there. Looks like good salmon water to me. The fishing is good all along that coast, you won't have any problems getting a feed.
Further west is big mulloway country.

Cheers
Glenn
