If you have an Anaconda store near you, they have a sale starting tomorrrow (11/12) where you get a comprehensive deal, fridge, transit bag, bit's and pices and other goodies. Applies to both Engel and Waeco.

Cheers

Hi Lynton
Do not put your purchase off for too long. We received a letter at work the other day from Engel. Like other manufacturers that import their products into Australia, and the weak Australian dollar, their fridge range will have a small price range in January next year. They are talking about a $50 price rise on the 40 litre.
We are selling the Engel 40 litre at work here in country SA for $1159 including the genuine Engel Transit Bag.

Cheers

Hi Stephen:

Thanks for your advice. I am looking at the MT60F-C model - the 57 litre Combi Fridge/Freezer. I don't know if it is feasible to purchase a unit from SA.

Regards

Lyn

Anaconda have the 60L for $1699 at the moment. They say it is down from $1799 but I thought $1699 was the RRP for these so maybe the prices have already gone up.
Bloody expensive!

Hi Chisel:

I have an Anaconda catalogue which says the 60litre [not the 57l Combi which is what I am after] is $1699 and was $1799; but the latest download from Engel states the RRP is $1639.00. Confusing!!!!

Hi

I bought my 60 litre Engel from ABR (advertises on this site) and Derek's price was best I could get at the time.

Cheers

Lynton,

I did this some time ago, and can tell you that there is not really a lot of negotiating available on the basic Engel pricing structure.

Its a bit like Coleman and Black Wolf, they like dealers to sell at list.

What you will find though is the packages available vary a LOT!

The way this works is the reps will give the dealer lots of freebies for buying a big batch, hence the dealer can offer it with his package.

From memory my 40ltr was $1100, but by shopping I got the transit cover, transit slide, an inverter, stubbie holders (not much cop I know) the divider, and the small internal basket that sits in top (thats great for butter etc) cap, pen, and a few other bits of stuff

The main thing for me was the cover, slide, and the baskets, rest just marketing hype.

But do look around, and dont be afraid to ask them to throw something in... worst they can say is sorry no can do.

Top fridges, you wont look back

Good luck n happy hunting

Engle are plastic polycarbonate crap, you shouldn't buy it. ( or has that view on fridges changed in the last 2 months?)

Hi Boobook2
Good to see you are on the ball and know what you are talking about. The only polycarbonate model is the 38 litre and they are not crap. If you knew what you were talking about you would know that all other Engel's are metal bodies.

Cheers

Sorry It wasn't clear, that was firmly with tongue in cheek. You will see that kind of comment about Waeco's all over these pages by Engel religos, I was just pondering what they will say now that Engel has a plastic version.

If you read it again that might be obvious. :-)

(I owned a 39l engle for many years that I got in 1980).

Find your best price and then take that price to Anaconda. They will then have to beat the cheaper price by 10%. I recently did this and got an extra $75 off a waeco fridge

A mob here in Perth - Midland Gun and Tackle - have been doing the Engel Eclipse (plastic) for $799 with bag, 8lt cooler, picnic set, plastic food boxes, and a umbrella. I brought the set about 2 months ago.

I lent the fridge to a mate for a 2 week trip he was doing. When he came back he said it was more efficient that his old 40lt model (the one with the deeper base).

Must be a good trust worthy mate to lend a brand new fridge to.

Half the blokes I know, I would trust, but if I lent new camp gear to them it would be returned looking very second hand lol

Olbis in my opinion. Olbis are have an office in Brisbane out near Acacia Ridge. Though I would not out of ethics take a quote from a small private family company to a large retail chain to get a discount on the first. The other way round certainly.

A profound and heart-felt thank you to all those folk who responded to my query with such great advice. As a consequence I have placed an order which will save me $370 over the highest price I was quoted.

Thank you once again.
