Gidday all

Weather bureau charts predicting a fair bit of rain over the outback, particularly SA today and NSW tomorrow. I would be interested in any reports from any travellers or residents. Not planning on travelling that way soon ... just an interested sandgroper who thnks there is nothing much better than an outback river with water in it (as long as you are not trying to cross it!)

cheers

Gday,
What do you mean "nothing much better than an outback river with water in it (as long as you are not trying to cross it!)

Every time it rains in Alice everyone heads bush! For that exact reason.....to find a river and cross it...or drive straight up it.

Hahahahaha

Tks Hairy

Love your pics ... one of the things that fascinates me about the outback are the rivers. I grew up on tales of the early explorers perishing of thirst in the desert. Now I have seen a little bit of it for myself I wonder what they reckoned when they saw all those dry water courses ... all that evidence of water and not a drop to drink

Plenty of cloud here on the edge of the outback in SA but not a drop of rain so far. Todays forecast is Late Shower and tomorrow Windy with Showers. I shall wait with bated breath.

We are still 90mm behind our average rainfall for the year. Long term forecasts suggest some rain around 16th December. Haven't seen a decent storm since 2001!

Cheers

The Oodnadatta Track and surrounding roads were closed half an hour ago, must be coming down.

There are parts of Central Australia and northern South Australia that have had almost 'non-stop' rain since the middle of November. The surrounding countryside will be looking great for the next few months - or so.

Mate of mine said it was pouring in Mintabie yesterday. Marla road was closed and water was running into the "lake"
