As we are sitting here over at Straddie thought I would test out the new nextg phone...and I must say that I am pretty impressed. My phone has got 0 bars and the missus nextg phone 2 bars and I am able to surf the net and muck around on the laptop....pretty impressed.

For those that are interested I got the Honda going 100% going again after we setup up camp she didn't want to fire again and after much mucking around I cleaned the sparkplug sprayed some RP7 inside the engine and on the spark plug and she's done about 60 hours since we have been here and not missed a beat!

Back to the coldies and warm sun :)

Next g is pretty good with the sumsung 412/411 phones . I couldnt get any reception at the key holes the other day though . What do i need to surf the net on my laptop ? It would be handy for the BOM radar site if nothing else . cheers .

Troopyman,

You just need a data capable next g phone (most are these days). your phone should have a cable to connect to laptop and a disk to install the software on the laptop.

Telstra have different plans starting at $40 per month, but the great thing is you can turn it on and off (phone call to Telstra) any time. e.g. If I go away for 2 weeks i get the $40 pack but only costs me $20 cause I only have it on for 2 weeks. Of course your data limit would be reduced to 200mb for that period.

hope this makes sense. I have used it all over the place...brilliant.

Left something out. $40 gets you 400mb download so 2 weeks say half is then reduced to 200mb.

Hey Troll G'Day,

great to hear you got the honda going ok.

i assume your eco throttle is ok now too?

So your saying it was down to the spark plug then, might be an idea to chuck it n get a new one soon as poss and carry a spare one, for all they cost.

Think i will add a plug to my carried spares.

Rgds
