Looking to do the Corryong to
Omeo trek at Christmas. Does anyone know of a
bush camp at or near Corryong ? Also if you have a suggestion on the best (?scenic) drive to Mornington Peninsular from
Omeo that would be great. Any comments on the trek or things to see would be appreaciated.

Stacey's Bridge at Nariel on Nariel Ck. It is on the Corryong to
Omeo Rd. There are also
camp sites on the Gibbo River before Benambra. Rooftop's map - Corryong-
Omeo-Threadbo Adventure map shows all these locations.

What dates exactly are you looking at? There is a great
camping ground at Nariel
Creek, about 3km up the Nariel
Creek Rd and on your left. You will know it because there is a
sign at the turn in
gate for hte Nariel
Creek Folk Festival. Great spot. Good
swimming hole. lots of shade, long drop dunnies. Even a wood fired pizza oven built on the river bank you can use. Now the catch, or the bonus; depends on what you want. Normally you will only find one or two other campers there(if that). From around Dec 20, people start rolling up for the annual Nariel
Creek music festival. From Xmas day until New Years Day, there will be a couple of thousand people camped along that valley. Still really worth doing, but may not be your cuppa. We have gone there for Xmas just about every year since 1980. It is a highlight of our year. Not a big organixed event with lots of $ and concerts. More of a musicians picnic with the best stuff happening around the campfires at night.

Even Bunroy is worth a try. Entry is over
the gap heading to Kanchoban on yourt right. When you eventually approac the information board take the track immediately on your left and you end up at a dead end right on the river with a small shelter. chances are it may be taken but may be worth a lokk at the least and about 20kms from Corryong

Thanks all, I have order the map from the
shop and will try my luck. The festival sound like fun but I have to be in Melb for Christmas Day or my beloved navigator will be cross. I will post a comment on Trek condition on my return

It only really warms up on Xmas day. Most people don't arrive until Boxing Day and it rolls along until New Years Eve, then tapers down.
Worth looking in if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
