Water or oil shortage at a rough guess.

How many km's ?
'Lugging' an engine on long hill climbs will not help. Avoid using overdrive or a high gear if you are doing a long climb or pulling a heavy load.

Heat, heat and heat are the main causes for cracked head gaskets.

It only takes 5 seconds, then it's too late.

Well you answered your own question. . . ..

> It was fine then all of a sudden was getting hot.
>It was getting hot only on long hills

There is no doubt that getting hot has blown the gasket. . . .It maybe started from a small leak that was un-noticed and then got hot because of low coolant, or a blocked radiator or faulty fan hub (very common) but for sure if you kept driving it up long hills and it was getting hot that is what has blown the gasket.

I have been in the trade for over 45 years and can now say that MOST head gaskets are blown by the drivers.

If it gets hot or has a coolant leak get it fixed . . . .don't drive it.

Hi Doug
Thing is it never used cookant or oil . It was also the last thing the person fixing the car looked for as he services the car and knows it well. Everything else was replaced then head off to find it
Yes radiator that was due for its 12mth service in 2 weeks time was blocked so replaced. But it was still full of coolant . Oil and coolant checked all the time. Car serviced every 5000kms never miss.
