Searching back throught he archives for info on long range tank manufacturers I noticed numerous, quite vociferous, postings by someone named oziexplorer. This forumite seems to have vanished into thin air. Whatever happened to Ozi?"Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

I think he has been about...uses different names...but uses the same style....easy to pick...usually bagging someone for not using the same gear as him...harmless , but probably does know a bit..pity he cant use his knowledge a bit more constructively instead of critisising..thats my opimion for what its worth (if anything )...cheers

He can occasionally be found on the overlander
forum. These days he does not seem to be as vociferous (I had to look that one up in the dictionary).
If you ignored his vociferousness (I'm getting carried away now) he actually had some worthwhile comments and I found his information very helpful.

Hi Wombat,
I think it was somewhere in January nor February when Ozi declared that he was leaving the
forum as he was being given too much stick from some of the other partcipants in this
forum. He was a knowledgible fella but always answered a question with a question which drove some people insane.
I have a tank manufactured by Brown Davies, I think. They are in
Melbourne.
Look forward to catching up with you at the end of the month.
Cheers, Willem

If you don't mind I'll pump you for some info on the Brown Davies when we catch up. We're looking forward to it. Sounds like a few people miss Ozi - I wonder what upset him enough to just up and leave?"Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

Hi Wombat,
I bought my Redarc battt isolator through him and he was quite helpful. I think he's on holidays at the moment.
About your tank, I got
mine from Long Range Automotive in
Lilydale. Reasonable happy with it. It seems to hang down a little lower that the stock tank but I didn't reaise they will build to your specs. I think if I was to do it again I would have the front of the tank height say 30mm shorter so the bottom of the tank falls towards the rear....if that makes any sense.

Hi Leroy,
So he was a fellow Victorian? I got a quote from Long
Ranger but am having trouble trying to justify over $1000 for something which will, in all probability, only be necessary a half dozen times.
Mustn't be long now till you head off?"Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

Wombat it was probably words like 'vociferous' that cheezed him off...hahah
Spoke to Al about the LRT, but we;re going with std tank and using LPG as backup, can't replace the Std tank anyway, apparently, I got lost in the technical stuff the big guy was talking about. He's got the hydraulic legs for the van, and now is changing the
suspension on the cruiser....!!
Is Avocado suprise ok for you on the 31st? (Or don't you want Willem to see your party trick....:)

It's like a never ending money pit, isn't it.
I might try to escape from the outlaws (visiting) this weekend to pick up the brackets and return the tandem.
So you think Ozi may have been a sesquipephobic?

Thanks Rohan,
I didn't really want to find him (he seems a little too self opinionated for my liking) but I was just wondering what had happened. Great to see you enjoyed your recent trip so much. Now to start planning for the next one hey?"Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"

Yeah. Not sure what it will be now. Having been out-voted and going to Fraser in July, the plan was then to do
Cameron Corner in October (reverse of what I wanted). Now the Mrs is faltering on that idea, so CC may have to wait to May/July next year. Oct. could just see a shorter trip out to Weddin NP and there-abouts, home via Dubbo Zoo.
Might do Tassie in January - only state I haven't been to yet.
Hmm. So many choices, so little time!Smile, you're on ExplorOz

IMHO January is the perfect time of year forTassie. We did it a couple of years back and can't wait to get back. We're doing Darling River -
Cameron Corner - The Centre -
Katherine next June/July with Mr and Mrs Al so we may cross paths and get to see that "One fine Pathie" in person."Live today as if there may be no tomorrow"
