I have a 1992 v6 jackaroo, the bearing in the fan mounting housing is shot and a genuine complete housing and all is 365 dollars does anyone no if I am able to purchase this bearing on its own or not , or could I modify some other bearing . It is very much like a water pump bearing with a shaft right through, many thanks for any help.

Hi Jack (careful),
I would not muck around with quick cheap fixes. Genuine might be expensive but it is good to know it is right and this will be a lot cheaper than a new vehicle or a 300km tow.

How many K's has the Jackaroo done? (Mine around 210thous.K) Ive got the same vehicle/year and am always interested in how others are going with them- as i'm mechanically clueless I'd be going for the genuine article- but that could hurt depending on the condition- cheers TonyT

If you take the bearing or if you can read the bearing number and type off it still SKF or CBC should be able to match it over the counter! Usually they are so cheap it is rediculous compared to what the OE ones are if you buy from Holden!

Might be harder to get off and on, you may need to drop into a workshop and ask them to spend 5 mins pressing the old one off and the new one on!

Matt.
