I'm thinking of doing a motor/gear box change in my 96 GQ LWB Nissan Patrol at the moment I run a 3lt carby motor petrol/LPG, I have a 4.2lt carby motor ready to swing in. I know that I need to buy another gearbox as the one bolted to the 3lt motor wont do the job. THE QUESTIONS I HAVE ARE.
1) what would be the best box to couple up, for hard off-road.
2) what problems have people run across doing this heart & lung conversion.
Thanks to all who might shed light on my questions
Rudi

The original 4.2 nissan box is as bullet proof as they come. Give 'patrol a part' a call (in
Lilydale), he should have S/H stock.

Rudi G. Check out Marks Adaptors they are in vic and they know there stuff, you may not need to change your box over. helped a mate put a 350 chev where a 2h toyota diesel lived left the old box there just put an adaptor plate in.

The 3.0L box is too weak for the 4.2, it will definitely need to be changed.
The toyota dielsel box is a different kettle of fish, it will easily handle a SBC.
