Hi All.
just bought myself and OZ Tent RV4, roof rack on my 80 is internal dims approx 1.8mtrs tent = 2mtrs long. do i
1) have front tent on top bar that goes round rack, but all weight would be on that part tent. (scared of bending tent poles)
2) cut some wood to 15cms to bring bottom rack level with bar that goes round rack so tent has some support in middle
3) cut back out of bar that goes round rack out. so tent would sit level on rack floor and stick out back little?
just not sure of way to go, or any suggestions???

thanks Steve

This is called OZ Pod. Just Google it. May be able to modify tour roof rack to suit.

as Ted Bullpitt would say, "If a job's worth doing it's worth doing with a beer first."

so, grab yourself a coldie, sit back, look at the pieces (alone) and it will come.

trust me....

Hi Steve
Firstly, congratulation on one of your best purchases for camping that will give you many years of trouble free camping. I only have the side bars on my Prado. Just strap the tent to that. You have no weight on the tent, so should not bend any of the internal parts of the tent.

Cheers

hi Steve,

this is my first time on this site so bare with me.
what I did with mine was to make a wooden box the length of the roof rack and just a bit higher 250-300mm I think.
this box has hinged lid so I can put all the long stuff in there and the tents add on's. I bolted tie-down straps to the box lid to secure the tent. It works a treat for me.

cheers

Welcome Henry, Do you leave the box attatched permanently or just fit it when you go away?

Hi Krakka,

I have bolted the box into the roof rack, so it stays there. i have painted it for weather protection and put a weather seal on the lid.It works really well for holding all those long loose bits. I also carry my axe in there as well. The best part is no hassles tying the tent down. just flip the tie down straps over it and ratchet down. Takes no time at all.

Cheers
Henry.
