I would welcome information on the road conditions from Mitta Mitta to Omeo, please.
Is it suitable to tow a Kimberley Karavan over or not?
Alternately, I am coming from Northern NSW traveling to Sale for Christmas. My preference is to avoid the coast. What might be a good route to travel if the above is not suitable?
Any information would be much appreciated.

HI WALDA
The road is fine for a van but at the start of the omeo hyway
just past tallangatta ther is a sign saying road is not suitable for c/vans it is very winedy it is slow going
the way i would go down freeway turn off benalla go through yea then to east of melb and cross to south east freeway
or down fr/way to melb through tunnel
BUT!!!! if you want go up to corryong then up nariel to sasafras gap which also brings you out at omeo
hope does not confuse you to much

Hi Walda,
I've taken my van down that road on numerous occasions. You will have no trouble at all, in some sections it is a bit windy but normal care taken, no worries.
Some nice campsites along the Mitta Mitta River as you approach Omeo. Enjoy, as i will be, as i again traverse this road in early Jan.
travelling from the Murray to Omeo and then winding my way across to the Dargo area.
Regards from Big Col.

The bitumen road route from Albury to Omeo is to turn off the Hume at Wangaratta and take the Great Alpine Road over Hotham. You could shorten this a bit by going from Wodonga throufh Beechworth, but the road is more winding and hilly. The GAR is not suitable in winter as snow chains are required.

No trouble at all Walda. We have been along the route and it is easy really but take due care. As a Karavan owner, do you know of the KKOG where there is a lot of discussion of owners and photos and stories too. Many other owners have their contact details.

The hardest part is setting up a Yahoo profile but do follow the process right through and check the email address you use as the group will want to ensure you are an owner.

Ohh, g'day Duncan. The address is up there again for other people who search the Karavan. Had a cuppa with Ian and Kay last week and anticipate seeing them again soon.

Cheers

Thank you all so far for your input. It makes me feel more comfortable hearing your comments. We have been in some very steep and winding situations with the Kimberley but it was on a road I did have some knowledge of.
Thank you again.
